What I've done lately - hearts, a sheep, horses, and more

I haven't been posting anything lately, but I've been crafting a little everyday. I've been making tons of chickens (but I figured ya'll are sick of seeing those) So here are a few other things I've been working on.

First is the Heart Basket I made for the boys to hang on the Valentine's Day mobile I didn't finish

I got the pattern for it from here:
http://jas.familyfun.go.com/crafts?p...&craftid=11088
but I decided it looked too plain so I embellished it with embriodery and beads.
And of course I made mine out of felt instead of paper.

Here's the knitted sheep I made for Gavin's Easter basket.

I got the pattern from Toymaking with children. I wanted it too look fuzzy so I used some alpaca boucle yarn that I stitched on to make a furry coat.

Snail

Horses

And last but not least I made some finger puppets to put in Easter Eggs instead of candy. I've got a ton more to make, LOL.

I also made a mouse to put in the kids Easter Eggs but didn't get a good picture. You can kinda see it here.

The mice fit really nicely in the eggs. But Colin found it and now he's playing with it, so I can't very well take it away to put it in the eggs. That boy ruins all my surprises when he starts hunting on my sewing table.

And I forgot to post a picture of my owl.

He's made from a pine cone, 2 acorn caps and wool felt. I put a tail on him too but I didn't get a good picture.

Holy smokes! I wish I had been that busy. Gorgeous! How is the snail made? I need to know I just saw one on a felting board where they used a real shell and it was so cute. Oh and I love the sheep!

I really don't feel like I've been all that productive but looking back I guess I have. I've also made about 20 of those chickens, LOL.

The snail is a pattern out of Feltcraft by Petra Berger. Its pretty simple and goes together quick unless you decide to embellish the shell, LOL.

Is the snail felted or wool felt? I don't have access to the book (it isn't in any of the libraries in the state ).

They are made from wool felt. You put a piece of cardstock in the bottom of the snail body because the snail is top heavy and won't stay upright without it, then stuff the body. Then you put a pipecleaner in the shell and stuff with wool.

Here's a pic of the inside of the book so you can see other ones made, that one was my first snail.

Okay, so I'm an idiot! After I posted that i couldn't get the book I was able to request it from another library. Thanks for taking the time to put up the picture though. I'm sure I'm not the only one whoe loves the snail and wants one of their own

wowsers! you've been busy!

I love the heart basket and I totally love the sheep!! You totally *fixed* the one thing that always sort of bugged me about knitted sheep...the woolly coat. Everything's adorable.

Thanks everyone.

I liked the knitted sheep. But they look like sheep that are just growing their coats after sheering, or like baby sheep that don't have coats yet but I like them with their coats better. If I make any more without coats, I'll make them smaller so they can be babies.

I'm a SLOW knitter so that one took me a while. Then it took a long while to add the coat.

Wow! I love that snail, he's awesome!

The knitted sheep is really cool, what a great Easter present. Instead of sewing the fluffy yarn on, could you hold a strand of fuzzy yarn together with the main body yarn and knit both at the same time? That might be a little less work?

Thanks for taking a pic of the snail page, I'm going to try one tonight.
