You don't think I make those to sell or something do ya? Oh no...you gotta make 'em yourself. LOL! I just told how. It's a.....ummmmmm.....tedious/frustrating/messy/extremely cool project LOL! But I can barely handle making enough for my 2!

Here's last years post about them with pics http://www.amitymama.com/vb/showthre...t=fairy+ eggs

Basically you just blow out eggs but you want the hole on one end to be about dime sized. Wash out and dry the eggs. I fill with confetti and tiny treasures...and if you're a real glutton for punishment you can open the egg bigger to get something bigger inside. You'll likely only do this once Then glue tissue paper over the hole. Then decoupage torn pieces of colored tissue all over the egg with watered down elmer's glue. You can only do a section a time bc it takes a while to dry and you need to be able to put it down. While it's damp sprinkle on superfine glitter. They take a few days to thoroughly dry. But they're really cool bc the kids have to smash open real eggs to get to the stuff. And, of course, only a fairy would be able to do that with REAL eggs

Ah, it was worth a begging shot. LOL.

I think we'll have scrambled eggs tomorrow. I'll need to start early on these. Ha.

Hey maybe we can have a contest called "what's the biggest thing you put in an egg?" LOL!

I barely squeezed a chinese jump rope into one once. It involved major egg surgery and it didn't do a very convincing impersonation of a "never been broken" egg LOL! But I got it in there.

OH, Cascarones!

I was in Santa Barbara for 10 years and thousands of these are made for Fiesta every year. School children get to work on them in class and they are sold by moms and children walking up and down the street during Fiesta activities for 3 days. The streets are covered with confetti and glitter. It is soooo magical.

Just thought I'd share lol

Yep, cascarones are big here in San Antonio. But they don't use as much care as a fairy egg...they just lop off the top portion and cover in tissue paper.

The tradition is to crack them on others' heads (they are filled with confetti). The sneakier the better. I spend the better part of Easter and Cinco de Mayo and Fiesta (local holiday) looking over my shoulder for littles with eggs and a strong arm

You can buy them at your local area superstore here. But they aren't nearly as pretty. I guess you could buy them already done and decorate them yourself to make them special and save a few steps, LOL. You just wouldn't be able to put treasures in them since they would already be full of confetti.

Buying them would take out all the fun! Last year I did about 40 of these for our Ostara party out at a friends house, and they were the biggest hit! I put crystals, scarlet runner beans (which are purple and white speckled like cow spots), tiny bendy babies, and tons and tons of tiny gold stars. They were such a big hit that I was made to promise they were a tradition. lol... This year I would like to get some crystals that are a little bigger in there... but I am not sure if I want to take the time... the seeds were a real hit, because that is when you normally plant scarlet runners anyway... and so that was even more magical for the kids. It was a messy, three day project in which I had to keep the kids out of the craft room very craftily... lol... but it was great and very worth it.

OH and if you do have to put them down, spray your cookie sheet with oiled cooking spray... that saved my butt that I thought of that... or they all would have stuck.

Danelle's are much prettier... I am sure I will become as evolved as she is in time. And the idea was such a hit! I have to give you credit... they are just wonderful and thanks so much for the idea Danielle!

Love Val

Here is one tray of them... the others were red and gold tissue... so pretty!

I've never seen them in stores here...must not be a midwestern thing. But I did see eggs filled with confetti with one small circle covering the hole on Martha Stewart. (I so miss my Martha lol) That got the ol' gears turning.

OMGosh, Katie...the chinese jump rope was INSANE. I don't know what I was thinking. It would have been easier to stick a live chick back in an egg

Val, those look great! Great idea with the oil spray. I"m gonna hafta borrow that idea!

I made a dozen last year too, from Dannielle's directions. They were really fun and while messy, not difficult. I don't remember what I put in them. Oh, wait, I got a ring pop in one last year, lol. Had to warn people not to stomp them to get the goodies out though, lol. I think bendies would be a great stuffer. Tiny playsilks are on my list this year for the eggs.

Hey, let's do a fairy egg stuffer swap. We could each make a little something that would fit into a fairy egg. Whatcha think?
