felting just wasnt happening LOL

I intended to make the nature/solstice swap items by needle felting wool. I wasnt happy with the way it turned out, so while I wait and look for books to read to learn more about it, I made the same ornament but blanket stitched instead.

Is this okay? or should I give it up and drop from the swap?
