eye ball Kids craft recipes and ideas...

Here is my first contribution/.......

Playdough.. as it has been raining like crazy here for several weeks we need some good ideas. Please post picts with your child making something if you do this...

KOOL-AID PLAY DOUGH
This play dough is colorful and has a wonderful fragrance too. The kids just love it!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup salt
2-1/2 cups flour
2 packages Kool-Aid
3 tablespoons oil
2 cups boiling water

Directions: Mix dry ingredients. Add oil. Add water and knead.

Storage: Store in plastic bags in the refrigerator.

Have not tried that one but I did do the choc one and the kids loooooooove it...

Mix 1 1/4 cups of flour, 1/2 cup cocoa powder, 1/2 cup salt,1/2 Tablespoon cream of tartar. Add
1 1/2 Tablespoons cooking oil, 1 cup boiling water.
Stir quickly, mix well. Cook over low heat until dough forms a ball. When cool , mix with your hands. Store in airtight container. It will smell good enough to eat but without sugar in it kids will not want to taste it a second time!

Not really a recipe but here are some ideas I like.
Search for funky science projects on the web to make silly putty, goo and slime that bounces useing regular household ingredients.
i just made an activity mat for a birthday present by getting 2 yards of blue canvas (water) and painting on lily pads and flowers. i numbered the lily pads and made bean bag frogs from a free pattern online. You can also use the lilypads for hopscotch. Throw the frogs in order (1-?) or add /ubtract numbers by using the pads your frog lands on.
When it's raining, stick a cookie sheet outside with a bit of flour in it. Do it for only long enogh to get some good raindrops. Now bake the raindrops! They come out in all kinds of neat shapes.
I have tons of fun ideas but I am soooo slow and miserable at typing so these will have to do.
almost forgot, melt your old crayons into new ones using a mini cupcake pan. Some really neato colours!

Does the Playdough stain their hands when playing with it?

I will post instructions for making Fimo paperclips later. Right now I have a whole house full of people for the entire week.

Fun for younger kids:

Bathtub paints

Shampoo approx 2-4 oz. -pearly white in color, whatever the Dollar Store has
2-3 drops of food coloring

Swirl together, and paint away!

I do similar with shave cream (cheap Barbasol stuff). Emily still loves it at 13, and it also cleans as it's just foamy soap
