My 3 year old nephew is coming over to visit tommorrow and has a fascination with dryer lint. I don't understand it, but OKAY. I know that there's at least one craft out there where you uses the dryer lint mixed with something to make the grout for mosaic on bottles. Anybody know what it is you mix.? I kind of think it's liquid starch, but am not sure if that's true and how much you use.
Any other lint crafts? (rofl) This is so goofy, but I'd like to make him happy if I can and we definately produce enough lint around here to keep any crafter in supplies.

Thanks!!! Anyone know why I need "oil if wintergreen" for the papier mache or if there's a substitute?

We used to make fire starters for camping. Save a cardboard egg carton. Melt some wax. Fill each egg cup with some dryer lint. Poor wax over top and let cool. Then, just pop them in your bon fire and light. Instant fire starter!

There's a recipe in Mudworks to make dryer lint modelling. "Molds well - a little like papier mache. Dries smooth if pressed into a mold, dries rougher if shaped over an object."

That recipe needs oil of cloves. I wonder if it's a bit of a preservative or something? I think you can get oil of cloves at the pharmacy. Maybe with tooth care stuff?

I'd post it but I'm sure it's a copywrite violation... But now you have an idea for future dryer lint ventures. This recipe needs 3 cups of dryer lint

hmm-- I've got clove oil. My nephew had a good time with the clay we made last time. Mostly he just gooshed it into balls, but it was good for about an hour of entertainment.
