Charitys where you craft something as a donation?

My mama wrote me asking for some charitable organizations where you can craft things since aid for orphans is no longer open. Some things I mentioned to her were

~ clothing and blankets for preemies
~ burial attire and blankets for infants
~ hats for cancer patients
~ clothing and blankets for homeless shelters
~ clothing and blankets for battered womens shelter
~ goody bags for childrens cancer wards
~ goody bags for police officers to carry in their vehicles (for the children they may have to transport or help after a crime)
~ decorated pillowcases, etc for nursing homes, shelters, etc
~ the Michaels afghans thingy

any others that you participate in? she would prefer to make things for local places rather than shipping out of the country. she cannot knit but can sew and crochet up a storm!

One near and dear to my heart - Shriner's.

The hospital puts a handmade quilt on every bed in the hospital when a child is an inpatient. They also have a bin of toys available for the outpatients (Jack had a ball playing with a handmade wooden truck - but we put it back because I knew he'd tire of it once we got it home and I hoped another little boy might find some joy in it as well - Jack didn't notice ).

The bin was filled with handmade "teddy bears" - just the outline shape. They were so sad and naked, made from muslin.

Anyway - I know how great it is after being in the car for hours and hours to get there, and waiting to see the docs, to have something new to play with and keep you entertained.

All Shriner's locations accept new toys
