what do you do with play clothes, clothes with stains, etc.

i offered them on freecycle and explained the condition, but if noone claims them....then what? i don't want to take them to goodwill because i know they throw things away that don't meet their standards of quality. i hate to put them in the trash or something!!!

I do goodwill because I read somewhere that they sell the stained stuff. can't remember what for - it's not in their stores - but they do make a little money off it.

Some charities wholesale the clothes not up to their standards to rag merchants. And, as a Goodwill shopper, I can tell you their standards aren't THAT high. I have to carefullly inspect before I buy.

What about a local preschool? They have extra clothes there just in case someone has an accident.

yea...i shop goodwill too...and i guess i *do* see some pretty crappy stuff sometimes. okay...well everything this time around got claimed from freecyclers, so no worries there. i'd much rather the play/stained stuff go for free!!!

you could always "hand me down" to other families.....but i guess freecycle is kindof the same idea except you dont know them.

glad they got taken!

true, tonya...but i hate to hand down a bag of stained clothes. i mean i love handing down good stuff, but i most often consign that...and then i just have the yucky stuff.

You would be surprised how many mamas would be glad to have some clothes for to go outside to get dirty in....some do not get handmedowns at all.
Another option is to give some to local daycares as extras.....when i worked at one we never had an abundance of extra clothes....parents DO forget to bring them.

I use some for rags and depending on material and stain I use some for craft projects. A lot goes to goodwill too.

I was going to say cut them up for rags. Another option is learn to braid rugs.
