I am going to clean DS's bedroom today, and there's going to be stuff to get rid of. I will post some of it here b/c I know he has a few things that others will want. Otherwise, where should I take it? I don't always get the chance to return gifts b/c people often open them and take them out of the package before we can take inventory of what he's received.
I WAS going to donate to the birth center so that kids have newer stuff to play with when they are there, but I doubt I will be going back there EVER. Should I just take them to Goodwill?
Where do YOU donate your used/unwanted toys?

Making the decision to have a child - it's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.

If I needed money I'd take them to a children's consignment store. They LOVE plastic toys, at least the ones around here. The louder, flashier the better!
If money isn't an issue freecycle or goodwill.
I would never throw them away unless broken or otherwise non functional.

I just listed 3 huge boxes on freecycle!!! I feel so liberated!! Not only that, the lady basically traded me.. she brought me a stairstepper & took the toys!!

Salvation Army or the local hospice thrift shop OR give them away free at a yard sale if I have one shortly after and don't feel like lugging them down.
DH just accidently threw away two bags full of toys after I cleaned out the kids rooms, I had put the garbage bags downstairs so the kids wouldn't see them and want them back out and he thought they were trash. Oh well, they're gone now!

It depends if I need money or not. If I do I'll list them on here or ebay. If they don't sell there I'd send them to my sisters for her to garage sale.
Otherwise I would freecycle them or I would take them to one of the smaller thrift stores in our area.
I use to pass them on to MIL for the girls to play with when they are visiting or my nephews but both of their homes are overflowing in toys too!
A women's center might be a good choice too. We have one here that women can stay overnight at. They often have young children with them and the children would love to have the toys to play with.

I just took a big box to the women's shelter. They were so happy, they always need toys, so they can have them for playroom, and be abole to distibute them to kids for Holidays, birthdays and let kids have their "own" toys
If I know of a place where they might need some newer toys (doctor's office, etc) then I sometimes try to take them there. Otherwise, it's donating them to local charity.
Now I try to avoid donating to places we might visit because me kids recognize the toys as theirs.
