Night weaning Night two update

This was officially night two. I have been working on this for months. Like if she wakes up I hug her tell her to hug her baby doll or I ask her if she liked the gorilla at the zoo. Everytime we are ready to work on this, it seems one of us are sick or we are out of town etc. Know that she has been waking me up up to 9 times a night. So night before last I started and she woke up maybe 6 times and everytime I talked to her about the gorillas, giving the dog a carrot, the swing etc.

Last night I nursed her down here at about 11 and I told her that when we go upstairs Mommy's milkies are going night night. So when she fell asleep I carried her up. She woke up once and went back to sleep when I talked to her and slept thru the night. I can't believe this I am completely stoked. Woo hoo!

I am amazed, she completely gets this. She woke up about 5 times last night cried and crawled in the bed to a new position and fell back asleep and when the sun came out literally she came over to me, lifted up the covers and pulled my bra up. LOL. I was quite engorged so I am sure she loved it. Then about an hour later she went for the other boob. I cannot believe how smart she is. I cannot believe how cooperative she is being. This is great.

My son is about the same age, we night weaned last month. I love love love it! He has done great.

He fussed the first couple of nights but I tried to let dh comfort him instead of me and that helped alot (I slept in another room).

After a couple of nights I got back in bed and told him nurse was night night till morning. He got it. It was amazing. Whenever he wakes up now he will let me comfort him without nursing This is down from 6-9 nursings a night. He also sleeps so much sounder now. We used to have to tip toe around him and never could talk in bed, or roll over for that matter. Now he sleeps like a log, nothing wakes him up.

wow good for you mama. It is such a relief. I feel like a new woman. I am having problems with a couple friends who think it's not the right time, but I am just doing what I think it is best for my family.

Ah! I remember that moment when ds finally agreed to let the "bummies" sleep. Enjoy your blissfull sleep!!

And pphhhhlllllbbbbtttt! to anyone trying to guilt you. There is NOTHING "early" about 20 months. It sounds as if you transitioned to this point in a very gentle way.

WooHoo! I'm very happy for you!

Owen "night weaned" when he started sleeping through the night as an infant (he was probably 2 months old) and we continued nursing till he was 22 months old. So to them!

Thats great that it went so easily. I cant believe people are telling you she will wean early. Any time anyone says anything to me, its "I cant believe you are still nursing her, how much longer do you plan to continue?" (to which i say, when she decides she is done, or something similar.)

Taylor has not taken to it well. I've tried to hold her, talk to her, hug her, tell her nunny went night-night and will be back in the morning, she just screams, rolls away, lays there and cries. So, i end up giving in and nursing her becuase i dont want her to cry. We've only tried a few times, but i'm definitely ready for her to night wean, i just dont think she is.

You mamas are LUCKY! My ds never did night wean. Ugh. It was not fun at all. He nursed at night until 3.5 years. (At which point I totally weaned him). Glad someone else has a cooperative kiddo.
