BF, does your toddler have a name for it and what positions does he/she like?

Taylor is my longest nursing babe. She is 20 mos. old. When she wants to nurse she puts her finger in her mouth and then pulls at my shirt. I'd like to teach her a word to say or something. She is starting to talk a lot more lately.

Also, she's got this thing lately where she sits on my lap facing me to nurse. Its fine for at home, but I wouldnt want her to do it anywhere else, its pretty revealing. Although, she really doesnt ask to nurse too much when we are out, unless she's tired. She's usually too busy.I think maybe she's thinking if she lays down in my arm (the way we've always nursed) that she will fall asleep. I dunno.

So, what position does your toddler like?

My Owen's been weaned for a couple of months now, but he would ask me "nummies?". :*)

He didn't really care how we nursed. We spent a lot of time in the recliner but towards the end, I loved to lay on the couch w/him. Very comfy.

My little one is also 20 months, and she likes to lay, sit, stand in front of me, climb around while nursing, tries to play with toys while nursing, you name it. LOL When we are out in public, she knows the rule is "lay down and keep mommy's shirt down, or you're all done." She also LOVES to have her whole head under my shirt and calls it "peeboo" (I guess she thinks she's playing peekaboo). She nurses her dolls with their heads under her shirt, and calls it "nana peeboo."

As for nursing, she calls it "nana." I think I actually started using it when she was 8 or 9 months old, becuase Justin would yell out "the baby needs boobie" and I was afraid she'd start calling it that too. So "nana" it is.

I tell you, nursing a toddler is more fun than I ever imagined!

Rachel hasn't nursed for the past 3 days. Before that it was 2-3 times a day... I only have colostrum now and I guess she doesn't like it.

She used to say "I want to drink milkies!" and she liked to sit facing me on my lap and "drink um".

Joanna weaned last month at 23 months but we called them 'ba-ba's' so that it sounded like she was asking for a bottle or something. I figured it was pretty neutral to ask in public so that's what we went for. It worked great.

As for position, she was definately a cradle hold girl.

Cort would sign "more" at first, and then he learned to say "more" verbally. It came out like "mo" (mow the grass). That stick. So he always asks for "Mo chair" - translates to more milk in the computer chair.

Dylan called it "other" (as in "That one's all done, would you like the other?"). Only it sounded like "Udder."

Patrick called it noo-noos, and since he was still nursing while Roro was acquiring language, she uses his term.

They all have liked it however they could get it. I knew one little girl who at 14 months would only nurse with her mother lying on her back, and then the little girl would position herself lying over mama's shoulder.

Saige always called it "mum mums" She didn't have a favorite position. Either laying down or a cradle hold.

Cammy will be 3 the day after X'mas - she calls it pi-ki . She's been calling it that since she started talking (basically mispronouncing milkie) and we never corrected her since I didn't want other people knowing what she was referring to (no-one I know extend BF's).

She nurses on the normal lying in my lap, head on my hand position, or lying in bed. And she HAS to have her finger in my belly button - she is obsessed with my belly & belly button. (thankfully someone is - its a disaster area after 2 kids lol).

Maizy says very cleary "I want Milk" and when she is done with one and wants the other it's "switch" She can be dead asleep on one side, but still wake up to switch if I try to move her. She is 27 mos. old. She also nurses her baby and switches sides with the doll too. She calls my boobs "milkies" and likes to wash them when we take a bath together.

She will take it however she can get it. She want's to nurse anytime I am sitting down and we usually use the cradle hold.

We call it "Mom Mom" around here! Dd started that(she weaned in April) Ds hasn't learned to say it yet. I wonder if he will,or will he have is own name....When dd was nursing, the funniest position was her standing at my side while I was at the computer!

thanks for sharing all your cute nursing stories. I've never been around anyone that nursed this long. It's nice to hear i'm not alone in the weird positions taylor insists in nursing in also.

Victoria is 24 months and I pretty much guide her into the cradle hold she will try and sit up or stand on her head I flip her down and say, lay nice please you’re giving mommy an owie. And she is lol she’ll twist my nipple every which way if I let her. She calls them night nights and asks for the udder side lol she calls them boobies every once in awhile but that’s because that is what dh calls them and teases her he is going to get her boobies, a few months ago I was annoyed with her nursing all day and dh came over and said it was his turn (to nurse) trying to distract her. Now it’s a big game @@ whenever she sees him coming she covers up the side she isn’t using and either laughs or if she is really wanting to nurse shakes her head no. If I happen to be naked when dh and her are both in the room he runs after me telling her he is going to get her boobies she thinks it is hysterical lol Monica, I’m so glad to hear about another belly lover she has been obsessed with my belly/belly button since she was about 6 months. Pinches, pulls, rubs or tries to dig her hand in as far as it will go. Drives me nuts and the more over tired she is the more she wants to play with my belly. I’m not sure how she is going to like it when the baby fills it up, it won’t be a blob of jello any more lol
