Breastfeeding your toddlerSTILL GOT MILK? Are you the one people ask 'are you STILL breastfeeding??' are mee nums still a daily (or even weekly) event? this place holds lots of nips (i mean tips) for you.
I am, and would love to hear anyone else's supportive stories. I'm now the only one of my peer group still nursing, but it's such a cuddly, positive part of dd and I's relationship, and I'm determined to let her self-wean. She probably nurses 5 times a day and nurses to sleep as well. I do fight with feelings of nervousness when she wants to nurse in public, but I just breath through it, because I won't send her a message that what we do is bad! Well, just checking in to see if there are any other's in the same (sweet) boat....
ds will be 5 soon and is nursing again. we had a really rough start, but i am happy we stuck it out!

~l~ Breastfeeding is food, vitamins, minerals, immunities, eye hand coordination, oral development, maternal weight loss, disease protection, free, antibacterial, anti-infective, living tissue, mother-baby bonding, comforting, pacifying, sleep-inducing, thirst quenching, hypoallergenic, brain food, anovulatory, a gift of love from mother to child.
My ds is 3 years and 3 1/2 months. He still loves to nurse. We only nurse at home, and are now pretty much down to before bed with the occasional nursing in morning or early afternoon. However, I feel the end coming. Often he only takes a few sucks and then says that the milk is gone (it's still there, I can hand express it). Nursing him has been the longest nursing relationship that I've had. I've truly enjoyed it immensely. I feel that we are so close, no- soclose... I wouldn't trade nursing for anything. I think that it is the best relationship for mother and baby/child. I will be saddened as it draws to a close. Already once he's told me that he's done - boy did I cry. fortunately, he came back to me later that evening - whoooo. I'm trying to mentally prepare myself. I sense it's going to be happening soon.
Anyway, you shouldn't feel alone. I don't care if it shocks others that I'm still nursing. What do I care what others think. My baby comes first.

I am so happy that you all are doing what feels best to you and your older nurslings.
My dd weaned on her 4th birthday (9/1). We enjoyed nursing for such a long time. There were many rough spots -- pregnancy, adjusting to tandem nursing, a less than supportive family -- but I'm glad that we had such a long nursing relationship.
I hope that all of you enjoy the same.

We weaned DS at 3. Now DD is 2.5. I am kinda' tired of nursing, but also not prepared to stop. I want her to self-wean. She nurses to go to sleep mostly (for naps and then ALL night long) but will sneak "little bit boob-ma" in between the day.
The thing is that it feels ~annoying~ to me now. How is it that you enjoy it at this point? I am trying to find some peace in it but not having much luck. I feel sleep-deprived and just kinda' 'used'... LOL!
Well, we don't nurse all night long anymore, so I can certainly understand how tired you must be feeling.
But I really enjoy nursing him. The moments which we share together when we nurse are so special - I even want to say sacred (to me). They are the moments when i can sit down, take a breath, and just 'be'. It really works for me.

Yep-
Still nursing my baby turned 3 in August. I have asked her when she will be done and she tells me
"When I am 4 or 5 or 6 or 10!" Makes my FIL almost faint everytime she says it!
Peace-
Karen
Saige & Claire usually only nurse before bed now. They were 4 last June. Mind you they "sneak on" at night & sometimes I don't notice because they are so "sneaky" or I think it is Teagan!!

Sounds exactly like us dd turned 2 end of Oct and no sign of stopping at all. I know she doesn't need to nurse all night long but I am too tired to stay up and unlatch her after she falls back asleep. Now that I am pg I sleep less soundly and do unlatch her more but then she just wakes back up 20 mins later looking for her booby, she actually yells, where my booby lol Not where’s my mom or even call my name just wants the boob. I can so relate to feeling used lol This just started over the summer. My other two self weaned with the tiniest help from me real close to two, and I was feeling done then. So I don’t know if I would feel this annoyed if I wasn’t pg but from past history I could say I would be ok with being done. We are getting a bed for her next month so maybe that will help cut down all night marathons. Snacks through out the day and nap/night time don’t bother me to much just all night does, I feel so touched out.
