maas I need help- Sore nipples

I'm in so much pain! Ziona nurses A LOT!!! She always has. But for about 1.5 weeks now my nipples have been so sore that I'm on the verge of tears each time she comes to me for nursing. What on earth can I do to relieve this pain?

Dear Mom and Dad- I may parent differently than you did. This does not mean that I think you did it "wrong." However, it also does not mean I am doing it wrong.

If you've got some Baby Orajel, that will numb you just enough to get past the toe curling pain at the beginning of a nursing.

are you pregnant? I had a really really hard time nursing ds while pregnant. the sensation made me want to cut my nipples off with scissors. no amount of lanolin will help. the pain is from hormonal changes. I ended up night weaning him to get some relief, and theni could handle nursing him in the mornings, but by evening I wanted to run away crying. I lasted until I was 5 months pregnant, and then we weaned. it was a gentle weaning, he was 2 weeks shy of 2 years old. Some women have no problems nursing while pregnant, but others have horrific pain and awful sensation from it.

I find that if my DD is teething, she seems to suck harder than normal and I have her relatch. That sometimes helps. Good luck!

thanks mamas. I can't find my Lansinoh. Oh and iIam pregnant but I nursed ds all through my last pregnancy and never experienced THIS kid of soreness. I'm thinking of thrush, but have n'tnoticed nothing other than sore nipples. Will check out dd's mouth. I'm so not looking forward to being purple at all LOL

Cold red cabbage leaves really help, but carefull of white bras, it will stain. My dd went through a stage where she chain nursed and would suck really hard. My Purelan did not help, but red cabbage did. HTH

every pregnancy is different, this could be one that makes nursing excruciating. I hope it's "just thrush" not that thrush is nothing, but it is at least curable while painful pregnant hormones aren't.
