I am looking to buy a breast pump, but have no idea where to start. I don't have a lot of money to be spending on it, but I don't just want to end up with some cheap piece of crap either, yk? Which pumps do you all use/have you used?

I have an Avent Isis manual and an Ameda Purely Yours electric that I used when I went back to work when Nora was a baby. Both pumps are great in my opinion.
I've only ever used the Ameda Purely Yours. I loved it when my ds was little and I used the hand pump attachment while I was working p/t over the past year. Both have been great. The hand pump is a little tough to get used to (at least it was for me) because my hands would get tired at first but after a week or so I was pumping with no problems.
Hope that helps some.
much love
-Lindsey

I have a Medela pump in style that I love love loved when I was pumping. It was given to me by someone who used it with her twins, and it served me very well the long nights I was assisting at a birth and away from my nursling.. I liked that it was all compact in one unit, not much to mess with, I could just grab it and a run as needed, and could use the cooler compartment if needed..
funny story of taking it to a women's conference and having to go into elaborate details with the (male) security guard about what it was used for before he was convinced that it wasn't a bag taking things in,,it was a breast pump....oh it was a hoot and a half, he was so embarassed with lines of women looking on...teehee!

Thanks for your replies ladies. I was leaning towards the Avent Isis before I posted, it's great to hear a couple of you say that you liked it. I have heard such wonderful things about the pump in style, but no way could I afford that right now. Target has a manual pump made by Gerber that I've never seen before today, does anyone know anything about this one?
1. Nurture 3 which I HATED. I found it to not be a very comfortable or easy pump. Plus using the thumbs to control didnt allow you to do anything else but pump.
2. Ameda Purely Yours I liked very well but I only used it for a short while because I had more parts for the PIS so I went with that.
3. Medela Pump In Style that I loved!! I got this as a gift and since that is the parts the hospital also gave me, I stuck with it for my last pregnancy! I LOVED IT.
If anyone would like to buy an Ameda Purely yours.......I got one I will sell!

i have used it and i hated it. didn't seem to have great suction at all.
If you decide to go with the Avent Isis, I have a used one (only used 3 times!) that I am wanting to sell for $40ppd. (I paid $56 for it at Target). Let me know if you're interested!
