3AM Update**Met with my LC today

to get Brenden to latch on again. Now that I've been pumping for a month my supply is up enough to put him to the breast. After 3 1/2 hours of crying and fussing, we decided to call it a day. He's not actually latching on yet, but he'll get the hang of it eventually. He's got to or he won't eat anymore! No more bottles for the B boy! It's been a rough day full of tears, but I'm truly hoping we can do this. It's just going to take me being more stubborn than he is. This afternoon I had him to the breast and he was sucking, but out of the SNS tube. He kept pulling off the nipple to suck on the tube. At least he's sucking though....he didn't suck the whole time with the LC. Wish us luck tonight!

UPDATE: He did it! He latched on to me! He ate about 2oz from the SNS and pretty much drained me. I switched sides and he nursed for a short while then fell asleep. All the while he's fussing and freting, but not screaming like he was yesterday. I think he's just so used to the milk coming the minute he sucks that he gets mad when he's got to work for it. That said, he's figuring it out! Yippee! You all don't know how excited I am. I'm sitting here in tears because I've worked so hard to get my baby's to nurse and have never been able to do it. I think we're doing it this time!

Oh, you should've seen DH last night. My unsupportive hubby (of bf'ing) was getting right in there with me squeezing the SNS when needed, propping pillows, holding B's hand, etc. It was great!

Oh! Best wishes to you!!

Does he pull off with the bottle, too? I just ask b/c I was wondering if it is the age, too a little bit. Lauren is SO distracted now, she pulls off latch CONSTANTLY. So just wondering. (Although I much prefer that to the clamp down and bite then S-T-R-E-T-C-H!!!! that she is trying now. OW!)

Nope, he's never really been a good latcher. He started pulling away at 2 weeks old or so and I couldn't deal with the nursing issues, 2 other kids, and PPD all at the same time. He does occassionally look around while eating with a bottle, but I can usually just follow him around.

UPDATE: We've done 2 more feeding since I posted last. He's now sucking, but not very happily. I'm not sure we've got the latch 100%, but I'm just happy he's sucking. He's taken 3 oz of EBM each time from the SNS plus whatever he's getting from me. We'll see how tonight goes!
