I can do this right?

Im getting frustrated with myself...I started pumping monday i do it every three hours, i even set my alarm to wake up, i really really want to nurse Sara so badly...anyway.....its been exactly 72 hours since my first pump...(as of 1:30 my time) and in that many hours ive only pumped 1/2 ounce...honestly, what is wrong with me? my doc says the meds that im on shouldnt effect it, and ive been drinking lots of fluids and etc etc....(Sara ll but refuses to nurse on my breasts, so shes been getting between 1 1/2-3ish ounces of formula) At this rate ill never catch up with her....ive called my LLL leader (she wasnt home) to ask her what else i can do or whatever....Im using a Ameda double pump (its hosp grade) so i know its not the machine, and im pumping 20-30 both sides every time....

I dont mean to sound whiny, but I hate this...

have you tried a nipple shield? Sometimes babies who won't breast latch will latch on to a nipple shield.

Maybe a supplemental nursing system or a lactaid. That way Sara will get formula or pumped milk and you will be getting the breast stimulation you need.

Sometimes you can reset a baby's sucking needs by taking a nice bath. Both of you get in the tub. Let Sara float around, bring her in close to your breast.

Let her play with you rnipple even when she isn't hungry. Get in the bed with her, you topless, and snuggle.

Keep it up mama! You are doing a great job!

Great advice in pp. Just want to say - you can do this!

I'm not a LC, but my recommendation would be to pump every 90 minutes, but only for 10 minutes at a time. If you were nursing her full time at this point, you'd be nursing more frequently than every three hours.

You are doing an awesome job!

No advice about latch or supply, just wanted to say it sounds like you're doing a great job. Even though she still needs to be supllemented, Sara is so lucky to have the milk you are able to pump. Every little bit really does count.
