Question for yall...

I breastfed my daughter but only for a couple of months, I couldnt take the sore nipples anymore....My son Josh, he was very hard to breastfed even with me trying to pump and using a thingy ma bobber...sorry I dont know what it was called. It was a little tube that I taped by my nipple that held formula, so he could get that and breastmilk...that didnt last but a few weeks...and i could never pump more than a half an ounce of milk from each breast when i tried....After i delivered my son Andrew (he was still born at 34 weeks) I was full of milk, but no one to feed...now that im a bit over half way through this pregnancy, im worried that i wont be able to feed yet another baby....know what i mean? I think i worry too much and it makes me not be able to breastfeed properly...

Ive got a couple of breastfeeding books and they give great info about it but i was wondering, do yall have any advice youd like to share? And when i get closer to my due date is there anything i can do to prepare my breasts for feeding? I so much want to be able to breastfeed this one...and I want to do it for as long as possible...I feel like a failer with my others....

thanks yall, Wendy

Have you checked out La Leche League? I'd highly recommend finding a chapter near you and going to the meetings, preferably beginning before the baby is born. You'll probably get some good advice beforehand, and the leaders can help you if you need it once the baby comes. It doesn't cost anything to attend meetings- anyone can go, member or not, and the same goes for getting help from leaders. I hope all goes well this time around!

I'd recommend contacting the local LLL and also see if there are lactation consultants in your area that offer prenatal breastfeeding classes. I'm going to guess your sore nipple problem was related to a bad latch and that can be corrected with a bit of effort and the right support from trained professionals.

Good luck - I hope it works out for you!!
