Gross, how do you stomach this stuff?

My MW switched my kidney med's today, so as of Wed. morning, I get to nurse Lucas again (yay!)
but now my milk is almost dried up (on top of sore cracked nipples) and I went and got some fenugreek tea.

Man, this stuff is NASTY!

I know I drank it with Adriana after my surgery, but I don't remember it being this God Awful gross.

Is there any alternative? Do the capsules work as good?

capsules work well...and are higher concentration-which you probably need right now.

Also-there is Mothers Milk Tincture. That stuff is great-it has all kinds of goodies in it-and you just add it to some water and down it. No biggie. I would say this would be the easiest, most efficient and most palatable option.

Also oatmeal works well. You can eat that every day in the am..

Nettles is really good

Blessed Thistle or borage leaves

Hops is good for milk production but tastes really bitter. I guess that is the whole old wives tale about drinking a guniess beer to help milk production.

And...last but not least...Anise, Fennel, Coriander, Dill or Caraway...

all of this is from Wise Woman Herbal for the Child Bearing Year.

Hope you are feeling better soon. And don't hesitate to get help trying to nurse again...there probably will be some nipple confusion etc.

I second the mothers milk tincture or more milk plus, there is also domperidome.
I can not STAND the taste of fenugreek. I hated the MM tea and it literally made me throw up because I coudln't stomache it.
www.motherlove.com It is a little expensive but worth every drop. I used the MMPlus in combo w/domperidome and it worked wonders for me.
My Dillon is in the mm babies picture gallery too

Oh, yeah, capsules all the way baby. Take like 3 with each meal, at least 9/day. To utilize the tea, try blending it with regular tea and brewing, like 2 regular to one fenugreek tea bag for iced tea. You won't get a huge dose that way, but it would use up the fenugreek bags with the added benefit of a constant dose.

(((hugs)))

Phew, I'm soo glad there are alternatives. That stuff was literally making me ill trying to drink it.

I'm off to call the HFS' to see if they have any of the other stuff.

Thanks!

I have seen oatmeal - the slow cook kind - really help my supply.

I also go for the capsules. I like some teas but have a hard time drinking as much as I need to.

I had to drink uva ursi (sp?) tea once and that makes fenugreek tea taste like dessert compared to that horrible stuff. Yuck!

Or you might try rolling it all up in paper and smoking it in front of your neighbor whilst nursing your baby.

I 2nd and 3rd and whatever else the Fenugreek capsules. They are stronger and "stomachable". LOL. They worked great for me after not being able to nurse for 2 weeks. I used those and Blessed Thistle capsules. And Mothers Milk tea too.
