Can you either pm me or post what it is like. My dh was told he has this yesturday. I read several online places about it but would like to know personal experiences with it.

Also, none of the sites talked about it being painful, but today my dh is in a lot of pain. He is at work and has to turn pipes and climb ladders outside in the cold. He said he can barely turn a pipe. It feels like his hands are bruised.

on top of this, he had a EKG done and he has *issues* with his heart

He has to take more tests this weekend. He is only 32

It could of been caused by him being on the fhen-fhen diet for 6 months.

I'm pretty sure I have this although I havn't been diagnosed. I don't experience it as much any more but I now live where it isn't very cold and I don't work outside with my hands but I know it can be impossible to rely on fine motor skill things like that while you are experiencing it...
Cayenne pepper in capsules with high levels of capsicum(the medicinal quality) work well. This is also one of the ingredients in Strauss drops which have worked wonders with heart problems.I think the other top ingredient is bilbery. Perhaps these would help both situations...
What was the diet you were referring to?

My college roomate had this, and she had pain. with her it was her legs, a circulation thing I think? worse in the cold? We were in Syracuse, so she had handicap tags on her car so she could drive right to her classroom buildings. Without her car, she couldn't walk across campus.

I know she said she felt better when she was careful about her diet, but it was so long ago that I don't remember what it was that she was supposed to watch. . .

Sorry I can't tell you more. . . And I don't think I've told you anything you were wanting to hear. . .

I hope his cardiac testing comes out OK - that is scary. We'll be thinking of you.

My sister has it. She has to be really careful about keeping her hands warm. One thing that helps her is to keep her core body warm. She sails and bodysurfs so this can be a problem. She finds that using a wetsuit vest when in the water and a vest or fitted fleece jacket when outside make a big difference. HTH.

A friend of mine has it. She has to try to stay really warm or it's hard for her to use her hands (and her feet will hurt really badly as well).
I would also look into the cayenne. I remember my mw telling me that it is good for circulation problems.
I hope his cardiac issues are nothing serious.

A mama I nannied for had it (in Boston). She wore double socks (at least one pair wool) and had battery-powered gloves (they heat up) for her hands. She said that helped in the winter. She didn't spend alot of time outside if she could avoid it. They also make those disposible instant hot packs for hands usually available in sporting goods stores with ski stuff. Those would work for when you realize you need more warmth adn you're not prepared with your battery gloves. Ideally for handwarmth you should wear mittens so your fingers are together instead of be being separate (so they help keep each other warm), but that might not be possible fixing pipes?

I don't know anything about the disorder, but I'm hope DH's heart issues turn out not to be serious.

My sister has it. it is a circulatory thing. My sister had a extreamly painful time nursing. That is how they diagnosed it. I very sorry to hear your DH has it. Many ((hugs)) to you and your DH. I really hope his tests go well. Please keep us posted.

tanya- fhen-fhen (it might be Phen-Phen) was the diet drugs that were all the rave several years ago. It was Pondimin and Phentrimen (?) Not sure if those are the exact names. It was later learned that the drugs caused heart damage and was pulled off the market and now there is multi million dollar lawsuit against the drug company.

Thank you mamas for your stories and hugs and ideas and I will update later. He does have the echo-cardiogram test on Saturday.
