Nursing and pregnant

Hi mama's
I just found out the other day that I'm pregnant with my second baby. I'm still nursing my 16 month dd. She nurses pretty much every 3 hours around the clock. Just wanted to get an idea from mama's who have nursed through a pregnancy what I can expect.
Or if you have any advice
Thanks

I nursed through my entire pregnancy with dd...

I didn't have any problems or difficulties, but I know some moms feel a little touched out. I took advantage of the fact that ds still nursed to sleep so I got some pretty good sleep.

I have BTDT so if you have any questions or need any advice, just let me know!

o.k. questions!
1) did you lose you milk if so when? When did it change to colustrum?
2) was there a period when you really didn't think you continue? When? How long did it last? How did you get through it?
3) did you tandem?
thanks so much
oh anyone else who would like to answer I would love your experiences too

My milk supply did get a bit low around 5 months... but it never did totally disappear. Colostrum came in about 7 months... maybe a little later.

YES! LOL it was about 4 months. I was just really tired and wanted to rest... not sit down and nurse. LOL but it didn't last too long. DH helped a lot by taking ds to do special things and such.

Yup... I still am actually. And it really isn't as hard as it may seem.

Congratulations!
Here is my input. My son was 36 mths when I became pregnant. He nursed throughtout the pregnancy and is still nursing!
He was old enough to explain that when my milk supply decreased around 7 mths that lots of really sweet milk would come with the baby. I think it turned around 8 mths. I did take some herbs (blessed thistle) to help with supply.
I didn't get 'touched out' but there were times, usually late at night where I would feel like I would fly thru the roof if my son didn't let go of the nipple, so I would just nurse as long as I could mentally handle it and then gently tell him that mommy needed a hug and cuddle. Worked for us!
Both of my boys are happily tandeming now, although my soon to be 9 mth old likes to push his brother off of "his" side as they affectionately call them. LOL
My poor dh says now there are no sides left for him!
HTH and best of luck!

I just found out I was expecting also! Anyway, I am still nursing my 20 month old, and plan to continue for a while. While I don't plan to tandem, well, you never know! As far as medically, at WIC they told me there was no reason to stop, unless I was not gaining weight, or was becoming dehydrated and all treatment to change these things had failed. I was actually impressed that they were supportive of my continuing to nurse an almost 2yo through a pregnancy!

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

>1) did you lose you milk if so when? When did it change to colostrum?<

I lost my milk around 3 months, colostrum by 5 months.

2) was there a period when you really didn't think you continue?<

This is my second pregnancy to nurse through. Yes there were times when I did not want to continue.

>When?<

Off and on. Most of the time I enjoy/enjoyed it.

>How long did it last?<

Maybe for a few minutes sometimes, other times through the nursing session.

>How did you get through it?<

Gritted my teeth, LOL.

>3) did you tandem? <

I nursed through my fourth pregnancy, tandemed until just a month ago, when my 3 1/2y/o weaned. I am now just nursing one through the remainder of my fifth pregnancy. I plan on tandeming again.
