How ON EARTH

do I get a VERY distractable baby who is intrested in EVERYTHING to nurse?? I have tried everything. She really isn't making up for it at night either. Only nursing 2 times..maybe 4 if I move her or something. Peyton will only nurse until the milk lets down. Then she quits and its another 30 min-3 hours before I get her back to the breast. She is almost 6 months (tues). She is refusing ALL solids too.

Any more ideas?

liam is very distractable as well, and we have to nurse in the br lying down with the lights out, unless he is REALLY sleepy. Have you tried that?

I agree with the quiet, dark room. I would also suggest you try not to worry to much. Sure, she's not nursing the ideal number of times per day - but she won't starve herself either.

As far as being quick about it, enjoy it! Some babies become very efficient at the breast. Her short sessions does not mean she's not getting enough. It just means she's in a hurry! Once that next growith spurt hits....she'll be back!

I think everyone has had some great suggestions, and I hope they work for you. I just wanted to add - if she's latching off when you have letdown, I wonder if it may be coming out too quickly/forcefully for her at that time. Does she sound like she's spluttering or choking with the letdown? If you can get letdown before she latches on, that may help.
