Who has read Watership Down?

I haven't read it so far and just saw the DVD of the animated adaptation.
Now I know what I want for the holidays.....a copy of the book to read!
Give me your review of the novel if you have read it.

The book is one of my all-time favorites - I re-read it every few years. It is WAY better than the animated film version. WAY. Much more depth to it.

I don't want to spoil it for you... but try to pick a time when you can read solid blocks of it at a time, not just a few pages here and there. It is quite a long book, but easy to read.

I read it for the first time in 4th grade - my dad gave me the book. I'm not sure if I love the book so much because of the discussions I had with my dad about it, or, if it's just because it's such a great book. We really analyzed it when I was a kid. (My dad was an English buff, so we did this type of thing) I reread it every couple of years or so as well, it's so great, I always seem to pick up on something I haven't noticed before. I didn't know they had a movie of it. Hmmm... Please check the book out - it is incredible.

I love this book as well...the movie is very good though and I always, always cry when the black rabbit comes at the end for Hazel.

I got a copy to read while I was out today......

I bought it since I like to add to my collection of paperbacks of juvenile novels. I had a choice of two publishers' versions and went with the most kind to the eye.

The black rabbit coming for Hazel is very moving. (I had a black rabbit named Jiggly along with her white brother Hopper for many years.)
