Don't you love totally unexpected blessings?

I got a call yesterday from my gyn's office. I have been under his care for 3 years, have not had insurace for that entire time, just the last 2 years.

I had to have a laparoscopy before insurance, have had some in clinic procedures that were pricey, so on. We have been faithfully paying his balance for the entire time, even if some months we could only send $25. We were down to $680ish...

His receptionist called yesterday and said he was looking at our account, and appreciated that we had been so faithful with making payments. He, as a Christmas blessing to our family, has decided to remove $400 from our balance....

whoa! What Dr does something like that? I know this Dr is a Christian, active with the local pregnancy resource center (I used to work for their sister ministry), but I have never heard of a Dr doing something like that..

So does anyone else have an unexpected blessing to share?

That is incredibly wonderful!

I expect nothing, so my days are filled with all sorts of unexpected blessings. It's strange though, when truly incredible things like that happen, I keep wondering what I did to deserve it. You've been through so much lately, I can certainly see that you deserved it!

I have been thinking about this alot lately

We are currently displaced from our home and living with my parents because of a mentally unstable contractor who has screwed up our remodel and who is now threatening us. Dh has been driving over an hour to work every day when his normal commute is only 5 minutes and Gabe has been getting up at 5 a.m. to make the long drive up to go to kindergarten. on top of that we also had some bad rainstorms and my sewing room flooded.

With these issues and much more going on I had been getting pretty down in the dumps and feeling sorry for myself lately. It was hard to see what was a blessing when life seems so disarrayed until I read an article in Reader's Digest that talked about Katrina victims and then saw some pics of a wee one who had literally been starved to death in an orphanage in China.

After having this experiences it is much easier to handle the burdens that I have right now. It is kind of trivial to be upset about water in my sewing room when thousands of peoples homes were under water. How can I be cranky about eating at my mom's junkfood filled home when there are people starving.

To wrap up this long post I guess I just feel like everything is a blessing right now. From my parents who I have a hard time getting along with letting us stay with them to the fact that the tranny has not completely went out in my car yet. I have often wondered why this whole contractor situation has happened and now I think I know why. It has been a blessing in the sense that it has taught us tolerance, patience, and has opened our eyes to how blessed we are.

My Baby Charlie was an unexpected blessing.......Even though I had a difficult pregnancy with him, and he came to be at a time when dh was jobless. We were living at the Il's with nary a penny to our names.......He made certain people realize what a blessing life was!! No Matter the situation...No one can imagine life without him. He made us all realize what's REALLY important in life...LIFE!

We some how got approved for a house loan (even though Dh was off work 3 months because of my bed rest) MIRACLE!!

We also were given a Station Wagon this summer When our van went belly up. It was Fil's fathers, who passed away. So it is special to all of us because it belonged to dh's grandpa.

These are just some of the things....I have many others I consider an unexpected blessing.

great post

Our hospital is associated with the Baptist denomination (Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center) and they collect an offering every year in the Baptist churches to help patients pay bills when there is a need. Jake had 90 day stay at the beginning of his cancer treatment that we figured cost 1000.00/day not counting the meds (totaling almost 90,000.00) and the physicians care (who knows how much?). Someone turned our account over to this group who paid every thing our insurance did not after 30 days. Thousands of dollars. We were very humbled.
