Well, crap! Looks like the home-based Montessori school dd's been going to may close

the mama running it is awesome, but she is clearly overwhelmed and very stressed. We went to a birthday party for one of the other kiddos yesterday and another mom was talking to the teacher. Little did I know but they were discussing whether the teacher had made a decision to close or not to close. I overheard the part about being stressed and it being okay to take a week off or so and I added, "not to interupt, but take the vacations you need. I know we'll be taking off two weeks at Christmas, one around Easter, and at least a couple every summer, so if you want to schedule time off, you should do it." The teacher (who has mentioned repeatedely how much she feels really lucky to have as supportive parents as she does) burst into tears and walked away.

I suck.

Anyway, I then talked to the mom who filled me in on what the conversation had actually been about and about how the teacher had already told that mom just two days ago that she was pretty much going to close and had a great referral for the first mom. So, we both agreed that it sounds as if she fully intends on closing but feels bad about doing so and doesn't know how to just say it. Looks like it could be the beginning of October. I haven't been officially told yet.

Don't know if any of you remember my daycare drama earlier this year with the daycare director who was borderline physically abusive (and certainly psychologically abusive). This new teacher was Lauren's old teacher whom we loved who left the center over a dispute over discipline and then opened her own center. Anyway, looks like we'll have to move Lauren one last time.

Crap. We really like this place too. Lauren LOVES it and has told me that I need to work more than two days a week.

Luckily the place Jonathan goes is good. It isn't the idilyic place this has been, but it's pretty good. I just had having to move her yet again and only a year before kindergarten.

No official news yet. Just wanted to share with people who might understand and not condem with statements like "see, if you'd just stay home you wouldn't have these problems."

oh that's so sad! I totally understand why you would be concerned and why you don't "just stay home" I hope it's all resolved with as little drama for your Lauren as possible.

yup.

Thanks mamas.

It's all going to work out, it's just sad because the situation we had for Lauren was as close to perfect as has ever been possible. If this happens, she'll go from a 99.9/100 to a 87.3/100.

oh, I feel for you I had more than one babysitter flake out on me this summer, very stressful. Luckily I found a homeschooling Mom for after school this year. Do you know any home school familys that might not mind having an extra kid?

You don't suck , I hope everything works out. No condemnation here, I wish I could do a montessori for Mikayla a few days a week, I think just interacting and playing with other kids her own age would do her a lot of good.

any updates? I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all works out for you.

My babysitter is leaving next August - even with 11 months advance notice I'm stressed!
