My DS has been BITING my DD lately... she has bite marks all over her back, arms, and body! No matter how many times I scolded him saying, "NO!" Or, "We do NOT allow biting in this house", relocating him to another part of the room, etc., he STILL bites! They are 16 mos. now -- sigh, my DD doesn't do this biting thing and I'm afraid she'll learn to bite back later!
He bites her either out of anger or just for the fun of it. This morning, I was changing her diapers and he came up to her and BIT her really fast... enough to hurt her :( Yesterday, she took the toy he was playing with and he chased her and bit her hard on her back...
I don't want to spank, hit mouth, etc. like most people do, but I want him to STOP THE BITING!!!

That's a hard calll mama. Really it is. I am sorry you are having to deal with this. Just a funny... when I was little I had a terrible biting problem... till my mom said finially SHE bit me back LOL and I quit Hee hee. Now I DEFINITY don't reccomend that lol.. just thought of it. I was quite a bit older... like 4 or so. :O) Is he old enough to have any concept of time out on the couch or something? Probably not.. he is young for that. Ugh hope it's just a quick passing stage.

Sophie was recently going through a stage like this Jenine and it was driving us batty. She was head-butting dh (LOL) and smacking him. She thought she was being affectionate to him because she sees my dad and brother wrestle/fight. Needless to say, that's stopped. BUT, we she was sick when she was behaving like this and was also cutting a tooth. Once she got better the behaviors stopped.
So, maybe ds isn't feeling well or is cutting a tooth? And then taking out his frustration on the person closest to him?

LOL -- my DH was a biter when he was little... but I don't think genetics play a role in this ;) My twins have no concept of time yet... not that I can tell anyways...
I know my DS is growing molars now... but I don't think this attributes to his biting problem though. He would have bitten me while nursing ;) But you may be right, Meagan, that he is taking his frustrations onto a person closer to him. I can't count how many bite marks she has now tho :( Way too many!
Thanks and keep up with the tips!!

My Lydia (almost 19mo) is a biter too. Mostly when she's mad about something. She bit a boy at daycare last week when he took her toy away.
I have no advice for ya, but wanted to LYK that you're not alone. LOL!

LOL I agree genetics don't play a part. hee hee. I would agree with Megan and the teething.. I know my boys and my sis's boys (all 4 within a 2 yrs) they would bite one another during teething.. it was their way of dealing with the pain. :( Poor sis!
