Helloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo? :(

I can see the forum is not frequented that much, but I going to ask anyway.

We have an A/C unit not working and a dishwasher that works intermittantly and a breaker box that keeps tripping in various areas for no apparant reason.

I thought it was our A/C that was messed up but when I turned the A/C breakers back on from trying to diagnose the A/C other set of breakers had tripped.

We also had another flicker off another line a couple days ago. I am believing something is wrong in the breaker box but there is no apparant bad wiring or black char marks like something had burned out.

I guess not many momma's DH's make them work on house projects with them?

~~The problem was (drum roll please.............)

2 breakers fried in the box, melted the back of the breaker box, annihilated 2 of the breakers, one to the A/C and the other, I assume went to the dishwashing area.

We had to get 2 new breakers and a new breaker box because the integrity of the bus *the metal piece all the breakers connect into) was weakened. It is possible out condenser is bad on our A/C but it has been running for a few hours and hasn't tripped the breakers yet, so that is a good sign.

It was a good lesson for our girls. After describing why the breakers trip and how thankful we were that there wasn't a fire (and there could have been because my husband and I both remember the exact moment when we smelled the breaker box burning [we though it was the dog]) the breakers in our house got named the "hero's". "So we are going to buy more little hero's?"
