My all time favorite movie is Steel Magnolias - but it makes you laugh and cry. And to make me laugh, I just love the Wedding Singer.

Thanks. I do love Steel Magnolia's...I just remembered the scene at the funeral where Sally Field says "I just want to hit somebody" and Olivia Dukakkis's character says"Hit Wheezer-here's your chance" everytime I see that I laugh until I cry. Hmm...maybe I should just buy the DVD-thanks!
I did love the "Wedding Singer," too.
OK-more, more. I decided that I need to own, a FUNNY video collection-for when I need some cheering up.

"Pink is my signature color!"
I love it when she says "Hit wheez-uh."
My girlfriends and I used to have sleepovers (bring our babies, too) and watch that and quote it. We'd all bring snacks and breakfast foods and stay up watching it and others (Like Beaches and other Chick Flicks :D)
I also think that any of the movies by Adam Sandler are hilarious.
I personally love Amelie, too. Audrey Tatou is so fab in that one. It's so funny. High Fidelity is really good.
Those are some that make me laugh and that I regularly check out when I want a laugh.

American Pie 1 & 2
Jay and Silent Bob
Dogma
Chasing Amy
Austin Powers....Yeah Baby!(all 3)
These are all super funny movies that we really enjoy. I laughed my a** off when I saw each of them for the first time. There are plenty more, but this is what I can think of off the top of my head.
Enjoy!

Amelie (subtitles made me concentrate and story was a bit quirky and you had to think.....) the characters were so very odd and fun and interesting.
I also thought Chocolat was pretty yet funny and Johnny Depp was adorable.

Funny movies I like.. :)
40 days and 40 nights (this movie is HILARIOUS!!!! One of my faves!)
Two Weeks Notice.. very funny movie. predictable, but funny
Any of the Adam Sandler movies pretty much are good.. (Big Daddy and Wedding Singer are my faves)
American Pie 1 & 2 are great for laughs too
Idle Hands is very funny also.. it's gruesome in parts, but hilarious!
That's it for our funny movie collection (well we don't own 2 weeks notice, but we have the rest). If I think of anymore good ones, I'll post more!

Anything by Kevin Smith is great. Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Chasing Amy is one of my favorite movies.
When I want totally mindless laughs, nothing beats Zoolander. It's really funny. Has anyone seen that? When dh and I were watching 8 Mile, and they started doing rap battles I yelled out "they're break dance fighting!" Lmao.
Dh loves Monty Python movies, Holy Grail is his favorite. I think they stink though. He also says Spaceballs...blah.
The Incredibly True Story of Two Girls In Love is cute and funny. Also one of my favorites.

Lmao!!! Okay I'm glad I'm not the only one! I'm usually not one to toss around movie quotes but for some reason Zoolander is really stuck in my head! Just the other day I said something to dh about "there's more to life then being really, really ridiculously good looking." Oh and lol @ "8 pile." ;)

Thank you so much for the recommendations. My brother has always recommended Kevin Smith movies, but I always ignored him-and here is why-this will make you laugh-maybe:
My brother was in love with a lesbian who he worked with. He chased and chased her until finally they dated for a year. He loved her so much.. Then she left him for another woman. One of his favorite movies is "Chasing Amy" Hi is also in the movie business-so I just blew him off. (Though I always like his movie recs.) I just couldn't get myself to watch that movie when he seemed to be living it. Go figure.
Glad to hear about Zoolander-I will give it a try. After all-I LOVE Austin Powers.
Hmm-Amelie-a foreign film...I haven't seen one in sooo long.
I am off the the rental place...I wil let you know how I like them :D

We liked Not Another Teen Movie & so much that we bought it. And what's the one with Rob Schnieder? The gigolo?
I just went to see what it was...Deuce Bigelo, Male Gigolo. We had to watch it twice to hear what we missed by laughing.

OK-we rented AMELIE and CHASING AMY. We loved both. Amelie is a wonderful film-funny and sweet and intelligent.(and I had forgotton that it was in French-big bonus for me becaue I speak French!) Chasing Amy was really great too. THe scene in the bar when Banky and Alyssa were comparing their 'stories' with women was HILARIOUS. My husband and I were laughing so hard we were sure that we would wake up our daughter. I am definitely ready for some more Kevin Smith films...
Thanks Mamas! Linda

Coming to America
Sliding Doors (romantic drama comedy)
The Mexican (OMG... SO funny)
Trading Places
Happy Gilmore
The Princess Bride (If you have not seen this GET IT TONIGHT!)
Super Troopers
Me, Myself, and Irene
L.A. Story (Dh fav)
Shanghi Noon (Action Comedy)
Maverick (Mel Gibson at his best)
Anything my Mel Brooks... Some are offencive... just a warning... but if you can get past that, they are REALLY funny... in a demented way.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail ("She turnned me into a nute! I got better...") And just about anything else by them. They also have offensive comedies...
(Wedding Singer and ALL Kevin Smith Movies are in my gallery too. Love them!)
Can you tell the comedy section is by far and away the biggest in our gallery. We only have about 20 movies that are for us... and nearly all fall into "epic" or "comedy".
HTH!
