I had a totally medical L&D with Maya, and would like to do things differently this time. I already started by seeing a midwife instead of a OB, but now, as time grows near, I would like to be proactive in this birth!

With Maya, I was induced after I was late, and had several High BP's, and then an US showed low fluid. I hated the fact that I was confined to the bed, yada yada.

Anyway, I have an appt with my mw tomorrow, and would like to go prepared with some sort of preliminary birthplan to go over with her. I am still having a hospital birth, but she says that it will not be a 'standard' hospital birth- IE, no standard IV, or constant monitoring, nothing is by the OB book. Anyway, since I will still be in the hospital, I would like to go in prepared!

I am reading a book by Henci Goer- A guide to better birth ( not too sure on the title) and another book on alternative birthing. I also have the Sears Birth book. Are there any other books I should seek out?

Try this link:

http://www.parentsplace.com/pregnancy/birthplan/

You'll have to cut and paste it; I couldnt' figure out how to make it clickable...anyway, it takes you to a site on ivillage where you can create a birth plan. It's pretty comprehensive and you can change it to however you need to. It's a good starting point, anyway!
You might have to join ivillage to do it; takes about 5 seconds and is free.
Good luck!
Love,

I think you will find that a mw will be totally different than a regular ob. I wrote a birthplan, but never took it to the hospital and never needed it.

Talk w/ your mw and see what she thinks. Chances are, you will both be on the same page as far as what you want. :)
