I went to a theatre to see it last night. By myself mind you!
The theatre was full of mostly couples over the age of 60.......a few younger ones here and there (under 10 total!)

Just an interesting aside on the age thing since I think the subject of the movie....a brutal war and crisis for the people of the world ....is such a touchy thing to watch at this time (while we are having a highly stressful war in the world right now) Perhaps the older crowd is revisiting their past to deal with the present? (enough pychological mumbo jumbo from me...LOL)

The movie.

It was hard to watch the brutal scenes of cruelty to humans by humans. It was fascinating too. The scenes of a war torn area and the reactions of people dealing with the unthinkable course of events is very uniquely done. There are no 'heroes' in this movie.
You can see how people stay in places thinking things will not get worse and by the time they find out they can......they are in such a trap!

The pianist survives the war (I am not giving anything away.....it is a known fact by you isn't it?) and he survives by pure luck more than anything else.

I recommend the movie....rated R (for cruelty shown) and if you have the stomach to see it at this point in your life....do it.

The lead character.....he worked a low-key, real emotional rollercoaster for his Oscar.
