Just wondering.
I'll edit this post later to add my current reads and will update as the month goes on.
Would anyone like to join me?
Edit 3/04 #1:
Edit 3/26 #2:
Finished this month:
Where Can We Go Today? Over 200 Fun and Interesting Places to visit with your kids by Gump. ~ Totally outdated library book but potiential for resources for when the kids are older.
A Literary Education by Catherine Levinson ~Resources for Charlotte Mason homeschooling. Now I need to do interlibrary loans to get her other two books.
Lord Sebastian's Wife Katy Cooper ~Harliequin Historical Medieval.
Sunset: Vegetable Gardening I'm planting this week so I keep double checking my info. I'm a gardening virgin.
The Jefferson Bible by Thomas Jefferson ~ It was mentioned in a talk given by "Thomas Jefferson" at a Presidents Day presentation and it sparked my interest.
The Playgroup by Nina Barret ~ For a mama's book club that I'm in. I couldn't even bother to finish this book. It did not have any redeming qualities as far as I am concerned. There were members of our book club who felt that there were many things that they could relate to. Conclusion: Great for some. Sucky for some.
Current Reads:
The Seven States of California a human and natural histroy by Philip L Fradkin ~ The reality of CA and many different states and thw why's has long been an interest of mine. 3/25 finished chapter 1. Still loving it.
The Bible as History by Werner Kelller ~ An ongoing read. Intereting reading choice for an agnostic imo.
Starting as soon as I get it from the library.
:D I'm having fun reading and getting ideas from everyones list. Keep up the great posts!!

Currently reading "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand. I've been reading this for at least a month if not more. It's 1000+ pages and I don't get the time to read it the way I want. I started it as a read-along for a Charlotte Mason yahoo group, but I am hopelessly behind.
Finished Reading:
"Eat to Live" by Dr. Joel Furhman
"Feast Without Yeast"
"The Fat Flush Program" --I think that's what it's called.
I love to read about nutrition :D
On my list:
"Quentins" by Maeve Binchy and her other one before Quentins. I'm behind w/her books. She's one of my faves.
And I'm always trying to read the Charlotte Mason series -- I'm still on Book One.

MrsMissy mama~
I have a few of the books in your bag.
I LOOOOOOVED Gift From the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh. It really made me aware of how important being alone to refresh and to think are. So, now, I go away by myself a couple of times a year. I had to wait until my children were weaned and old enough (for me to feel comfortable), but it is SOOOO worth it.
Also have Home By Choice and I also felt completely, statistically supported in staying home (actually we go OUT a lot :D).
I have read The Well Trained Mind and was able to glean a lot of helpful info from it. I vary my approach in a few ways, but still was a good, informative read.
Not reading it now, but one of my favorite "return" reads is Stepping Heavenward by Elizabeth Prentis. It is one of the best books I have ever read concerning life, holiness, and attitude toward child rearing and being a wife. It is fictional, but so, so wholesome. After reading your list, thought you might like to check it out sometime.

This is my busiest time of year as an instructor because classes will be done in a month and I have tests to create, projects, and presentations to grade, and lectures to plan.
Due to that I am really only reading one book right now and skimming a couple of others.
I am reading: Rich Dad, Poor Dad: What the rich teach their kids about money-that the poor and middle class do not.
This book isn't really as snooty as it sounds. It speaks about how our current education system is not teaching kids the money skills they need to be successful later in life. I just started last night so I don't really have a good opinion of it yet.
I am also brwsing through the Rodalle's organic gardening book and another gardening book right now.

I'm nearly finished w/"Scarlet Feather" -- the book before "Quentins". LOVE her work. Have you read "Tara Road" -- another goodie. Hated to say goodbye to the characters. I know I'm gonna go through w/drawl w/"Scarlet Feather" too! Have fun!
As for other goodies in the non-fiction realm:
"How the Queen of Clean Cleans Everything" -- GREAT resource. Should be on everyone's shelf IMO. She totally advocates natural cleaning products and by golly, they work! LOL If you need a great cleaning resource -- this is it! It's three books in one.
"The Queen of Clean Conquers Clutter" -- not as great as the "how-to" book but very helpful. Esp when used in conjunction w/"Sink Reflections" (Flylady's book).
Happy Reading!

Lynn,
So happy to see you posting again. :D
I have "Scarlet Feather" on the shelf calling my name and then I can't wait to dig into "Quentins." I can only handle one fiction book at a time and taking on "Atlas Shrugged" as my first fiction book in over a year is quite daunting!
I've read and own all of Maeve's work, except the last two. I was hooked the minute I opened "Circle of Friends" geez-- was that over 10 years ago? I know I was in college when I read it. I should really read "Tara Road" again as I loved it so much I sped through it. And my other fav of her's is "The Glass Lake."
So glad to find another Maeve fan. I long to go to Ireland to see what she writes. I'm sure it's more beautiful than I could ever imagine.

about "Tara Road" -- I just finished it and wanna go back! LOL I miss Ria! LOL
Have you read any of Rosamund Pilcher's work? She reminds me in many ways of Maeve but w/more of an elitist British slant! LOL The characters though come to life and the tales are so lovely. If you haven't picked one up, you must. They capture you like Maeve Binchey's work does.
Have fun w/"Quentins". My mom read it earlier this year and couldn't put it down. Am waiting to finish "SF" before I pick it up.
Thnx for the welcome back! :) It's good to be back.

Currently I am reading Marie Osmond, Behind the Smile.. her book about her post partum depression. :)
I recently finished A Thousand Country Roads, it's a continuation of Bridges of Madison County. It was pretty good, but I was disapointed.. lol (you have to read the book to understand!)
Edited to add.. About Tara Road.. when that was Oprahs book club book, my mom got to be on the discussion show about it. Actually my mom and my aunt were on the show! :) Apparently my real dad cheated on my mom when she was preggo with my sister and that's why they got divorced, I never knew that until my mom and my aunt were asked to be on the show! LOL Pretty cool though that I can say my mom was on Oprah!! :D

I am about to start the 3rd book in a series by James Clemens called Wit'ch War. The whole series is wonderful. I never liked the fantasy/sci fi world before this, and I am adicted!
The last book I read was The Divine Secrets of the Ya Ya Sisterhood. It was fabulous.
I plan to re-read the Harry Potter books before my pre-paid copy of the latest book gets here.
The Red Tent was recommended to me by the one and only Momgoddess, who posted about it above!
I want to read About a Boy
I have this LLLOOONNNGGG list of books and a shelf full that I want to read!

Actually, before I read Wit'ch War, I will re-read The Giver and Number the Stars. They are each one day reads and The Giver is one of my all time favorite books!
If you haven't read it and your kids haven't read it, READ IT! They will probably have to read it eventually anyway.

Yup that's the goal. Unless I get flaky on the first and someone else posts something simmilar. I'm totally cool with that. This is all about a single post per month for inspiration for readings and to see all the great things out there that we choose to read.

It is a little diff to the movie (which I also adored) so is worth a read! Love the characters and dialogue. Nick Hornsby is excellent at character development and LOVE his dialogue. Have fun!

Now I am reading The Lovely Bones (not sure who it's by and it's upstairs, so I can't go look.. lol) It's a good book so far. About a girl in the 70's who was murdered by her neighbor and she is up in Heaven watching her family and friends dealing with it. Just went to the library yesterday, so I also have Let's Roll by Lisa Beamer and two gentle discipline books to read next month! :)
