Okay, here's some pics I did to show how I did the fold over elastic on my velour top.
This first one shows how you lay the fabric over only the left side of the FOE.

This shows sewing it on, with a straight stitch and a regular foot. Remember to stretch slightly as you sew, even if you don't want gathers. If you don't stretch it a little, it will hang funny.

This shows the overcasting foot.

This shows me sewing the elastic after it's been folded. It butts up against the overcasting foot for a nice, even line. Stretch slightly again.

And this shows the finished product. I tried to use contrasting colors for clear visibility, but I think a darker thread would have shown up better.

Nice Shecki. This is exactly how I did it my first time. It really helps keep it from shifting. When I used FOE on the woven the other day I just folded it over and sewed. I think it's easier to use on a woven.

Thanks Shecki, that really helps!
I don't have an overcasting foot. Think I can use my magnetic seam guide and my narrow, straight stitch foot?

 Do you do that for night pants, too? That would have eliminated a lot of the potty words I was muttering to myself when I tried to make a pair with FOE! (blush) What a great idea!
Awsome Shecki! Thanks! That helped so much being able to actually SEE what you were talking about. Are these instructions just for using FOE with wovens? Can you do it this way on knits? Would it stretch? Sorry for all the questions.

Ahhh, I didn't know I should do it in 2 steps.... that would certainly eliminate a lot of frustration! Thanks for the tips!

Thanks Shecki ! That makes so much more sense then my method of folding the FOE over the fabric and trying to keep the fabric inside… :o

Thank you so much!
I haven't attempted FOE yet, but I really like the look of it on a shirt. I'm going to print this to keep up in my sewing room!
