I know there's a link around here somewhere about making a pouch-style sling. I also know that fleece pouches exist ;) Have any of you made one? Can I use my serger instead of making French Seams? What about the stretch of fleece, I worry that it's too stretchy. Should I use some of my MM fleece or would the cheap Joann's fleece work.
Can someone help me along? Lol. I have to start using this ridiculous fleece stash!
Thanks!
Mommy May I?

Sorry but I don't know where you could find a pattern but I would be intersted to find out myself as my Baby Bjorn is getting uncomfortable!

I have a fleece sling made of Joann's fleece and it's fine for my 20 lb baby. I think it will depend on weight vs. how much fleece is involved. I've never seen a pouch, but for some reason I have the impression it's two layers of material...if that's the case it will be twice as strong I guess. I'm curious to see the pattern too. Cause I sure need another carrier, I'm addicted I think!

I used to be a sling making wahm and my specialty was custom fit pouches. :D
Fleece pouches are oh-so-easy to make. Serging is best. I typed up instructions on another board and I'm going to try to find them .... total fleece is less than 2 yards. I prefer anti-pill micro because it is less bulky (from Joann's is fine). I have used 200 wt MM fleece and it is nice too. I even back carry my 45 pounder in one that I made with snaps.
Ok, since I don't think I can c&p (even my own post?) here's the link to the thread. The instructions are about 5 posts down

If you have a snap press and want to make it adjustable just lmk and I'll tell you how I put mine together.
And a little spam from me -- I'd be happy to make one for anybody! lol ;)

Me too! I have a load of fossil ivory MM micro that would be perfect!
Can you let us know how to do snaps?
TIA!

I've only done the snaps twice. :)
edit to add: When making your pouch adjustable, add about 4 inches to your fabric length.
After cutting the fleece serge the curve together. I use 2 needles, 4 threads. Lay your pouch out on your cutting surface like this
(__| Then cut the | part. You'll have a long piece of fabric with your serged seam in the middle. Serge each long side for strength, decoration. Fold in half lengthwise and serge ends. Then you're ready to add your snaps! I did about a dozen in a straight line on one pouch, three rows about and inch or so apart. On the other pouch I did zig zag rows, 4 of them. I like the zig zag look, but it was definitely more time consuming.
That's it! :)
