Hi! I'm not really good at sewing but, my mom has a nice, new machine w/ a serger I can use but, I need some pointers from any mams out there! I have 12 new guaze diapers and old recieving blankets to use. Is that material okay or should I be using something else?

to keep it simple and cheep.

do you have any old towles that you are willing to sacrifice?

I would consider dimantleing the gauze diapers to use the gauze as the outer layers (unless you have some fleece laying around then use that as one of the outer layers) then do a layer of flannel or two and then a layer of terry or two then gauze again .... or something like that. I'm tired and not sure I'm making sense.

One word of advice with using the terry or actually with any doubler, make a row of stiching (machine) about 1/2 inch or so inside of the serging lines. I have recently learned that that would make a world of difference in the handling of my doublers when placing them on the line to dry.

Also use a hearty needle if you do fleece or terry. imo at least a 16 although for mine I prefer an 18.

hope that helps a bit
