Cleaning my sewing room tonight and I came across my months of the year quilt squares. They are soo pretty! I think I am going to get these quilted this weekend or at least start on it.

Anyway anyone interested in a new quilt square swap of some sort? Any ideas on a theme? I really liked doing the appliqued ones I made before.

I can try

I really like the appliqued and pieced squares rather than just cutting out a square of fallish fabric.

What dates would work for you? Maybe we should wait and see if others join and figure dates. And how do we want to do the squares? I guess we need to wait for more signs ups and see who wants to do how many.

Any suggestions on sizes and when you want to have them finished by?

Me, but I can't start working on anything until the beginning of November.

I'm a pretty crummy swapper but would love to try turning over a new leaf so to speak. If the spots get filled, feel free to kick me out, but if there is room left at the end I'd love to join.

*hugs* welcome back, Hastings. That reminds me, I need to try to get the pagan wheel of the year swap going again that I tried last year before life got in the way.

can I call dibs on a leaf?

Hastings me too! I was so slow last time, this time I promise to get them done on time!

I call pumpkins :D

Just wanted to add with it being a fall theme that a few people could do pumpkins/gourds/squash and a few could do leaves.

Any other ideas? Turkeys? Apples?

I can organize but would love to know what and how you guys want to do this :D

I would love to join. I'm not a fast piecer, though, so if you want them out before Christmas, I will have to bow out! I did apples for one of the last pieced-or-appliqued-swaps - if people liked them, I could do them again. What size square would we be making?

I'm not in any hurry. I am thinking that no one expects to make the actual quilt for this fall season.

Open to everyones ideas on sizes.

The months of the year squares were 8 1/2"I think. I like to have multiple swaps in the same size so I can mix and match (or replace squares that my kids have lost or I end up using for something else) when I finally get around to actually making the quilt tops. I know I was looking at Margaret's apples from that swap just the other day-- one became a table runner for "Johnny Appleseed Day" at Lorelei's kindergarten. That's my vote for size :)

Yeah I thought that was a nice size, so I'll second it :D

works for me. I'm voting for a mailing date in January so that we can deal with Christmas first, with the plans for making them for next fall!

let me think, I might want an extra spot or two. And I'll commit to a leaf for you :)

Oh, I have a question. I'm into different textures at the moment... if I use the regular stuff we always do for the background, are there other types of fabrics that might be okay for an applique (I suck at piecing, but might try it, depending on how brave I become?). Since I'm still at the 'beginner' level - I honestly don't know what other fabrics work about the same in terms of shrinkage, etc. I don't even know if that's an okay idea or not - I'm sick, so my brain is feeling fuzzy. And even if that's not okay for this swap, I'd like to know for the future for my own use anyway...

Ok late January work for everyone?

I loved my snowmen I did in chenille. So lots of textures are cool with me. :D

Yeah I'll probably do two spots, how do we want to do this? The months of the year was easy, 12

Oh, if it's in late January I could probably swing it!

How many squares per spot? Is it just one?
