I'm interested in hearing of options besides homeschooling that are working for gifted kiddos, but I'm not sure where to ask. We've found a good part-time school for our oldest, but it's not working as well for our second so I'm trying to figure out what else we might try besides full-time homeschooling. Though I haven't ruled out full-time homeschooling and to me that seems a lot less complex than two different schools, I'd still like to know what is working for others, if anyone here has a gifted kid that isn't homeschooled. TIA!!

I do - and she just does lots of stuff on her own outside of school. She doesn't get much homework, so that helps. We also do summer enrichment stuff when she wants. She's mostly into reading, so that makes it kind of easy for her to just read what she wants as much as she wants outside of school.

No, not just for homeschoolers. :) We're not homeschooling right now.
What works for us is that he still loves school, even though it's not mentally challenging. There are other things he gains from school, such as handwriting (his weakness) and spending time with other kids.
For K/1, he was at a private school that offered him a lot, because it wasn't a standard curriculum. He had lots of time to read and most of what they did was easily adaptable.
Now we're in a small-town public school, and we're thinking for right now we'll continue doing math at home (EPGY). I also throw lots and lots of books at him. I want to get some science experiments going once a week or so. And I"m thinking of doing Writer's Workshop at home for both of my kids (K and 2nd), which I take from our former school. He dictates stories to us on the computer, too, which helps him be able to create stories that are far more advanced than he could write.
This will be our first year not homeschooling. Sam is entering 5th grade in about two weeks. I'm eager to see how it goes!

Savannah is 6...she's got a wonderful 1st grade teacher who is already finding things for her to do in class that are challenging for her...ie going to get some 3rd grade level books for Savannah to read and tailoring her homework to her level. Her teacher is gifted certified and very in tune with what will help savannah in class. all the 1st graders go for 45 minutes to the gifted teachers each day for enrichment activities.

I have a friend who has gifted 4th graders who are in a self-contained GT magnet school in Farmer's Branch (near Dallas). There are people that move from all over the country to go to that school (public).
My oldest, who went to public school, I kept busy with all kinds of outside enrichment activities...like art classes, golf, computer programming classes, lego classes, etc.
