Ok, so i am switching doctors... you can see why in my last post, the who has had a non invasive birth of twins post. But i scheduled my intake at my new drs. and also an appt. which is only with a midwife, which is odd since midwives cant' take my case in our state since i'm having twins. Anyway, that appt. isn't until June 3, and my other OB appt was next thursday, May 21st i think. Anyway, at the old OB's i would get an ultrasound which i'm REALLY liking, but i'd have pressure to do the fetal fibronectin which i do NOT want do do at this dr's office, if at all! but i could just refuse it... what do you think? i'm waiting for dh to get home for lunch so i can ask him, since he'd have to take an extra day off work. So, being pregnant with twins, do you think missing an appt (since i'm basically biweekly now) is a really bad idea?!

I don't think it's a big deal to skip an appointment.

I'm surprised they want to do a fetal fibronectin test without any possible preterm labor. They are kind of expensive. I had 3 with my twins but I had cervical shortening, funneling, and early dilation. I was on total bedrest by 29 weeks. It's just a swab like a q-tip and not invasive at all like a pap. They are not as accurate for twins though. I had a negative one at 31 weeks in the hospital so they sent me home and I delivered 5 days later. They are supposedly accurate for 2 weeks but it was not for me.

I also had one for my youngest son at 33 weeks. His was accurate but he was a singleton. I had some preterm labor and I was a bit freaked so my OB agreed to do one.

Well, that's the thing... my current doctor, the one we are switching from is really super high risk, so they do everything with the highest caution in mind. Like right now, i'm on modified bedrest, ONLY because i'm having twins, my new dr. said that's probably not necessary, so i think a lot will be different.. anyway, thanks so much for your feedback! it was too late for me to call back today and reinstate my appointment, so we have through the weekend to decide.. it would be NICE to not have to have dh take a day off next week, BUT i have really grown accustomed to those ultrasounds! dang! :-)
