View Full Version : Is anyone else worried about student loan disbursement?

I had so much trouble last semester that I'm a bit freaked out about this one. I use student loans to supplement income that I would otherwise need to be bringing in by working. Since I can't go to school, be a full time mom, and work all at the same time (well, I could, theoretically, but it wouldn't be pretty, lol) I get as many grants as I can and supplement with loans. In other words, that money is a necessity.
I'm really hoping that this economy isn't going to cause huge problems this semester. My plan is to be ready for next semester by saving tax return money, but this semester I'm still dependent on those loans.
Anyone else have trouble last semester?

I didn't attend last semester, but am using loans this semester to pay for my tuition. i am receiving some grant funds but was unable to get loan dollars in addition to my need (the school i am attending is private and thus, costly...but it's only one semester and then i am done.)
as such, i am going to be attending as full-time status, on campus (over an hour drive from my house, one-way), working full time (including births) and being mom too.
my husband has already received his loan disbursement notice from his school and we are just awaiting the refund of his overage so i am not too concerned about my loans.

I get student loans and I already got my refund so it was ok. I was worried too. More worried about fall 09 though because this year I had already gotten these approved and had promissory note signed, etc before the economy went poof.

Part of my anxiety is that I'm at a new school this semester. The school I was at was so awful that I can't imagine it'll be that bad. But, I also don't know what to expect from this school. The disbursement date is 1/12. I don't know if that means that's the day I'll get the money? Or the day THEY get the money, and then I don't know how long until the refund gets back to me. And I'm not clear on how they disburse funds. I think directly to my bank account. I hope, lol. I'll call on Monday because I just made a new list of questions, but they're probably sick of hearing from me, lol.

yeah, I'm a little concerned. Crossing my fingers that it'll all go smoothly.

I paid for tuition out of pocket this year so I didn't have to deal with it. Student loans are always stressful so I can imagine!

I start classes tomorrow and had no issues getting my loan...was processed 1 week ago and the overage was deposited into my account on Thursday. I don't expect to have issues in the fall either...I attend a LARGE state university that does direct loans as opposed to using a lender.
