Really just nervous about leaving my baby. Last semester was online - this semester starts my in person classes, so I'll be leaving him once a week for 5 hours at a time. I know its not a lot of time, but I really haven't left him at all. I'm not sure how he'll take a cup or bottle or food or if he'll cry for hours. Plus I'll need to express milk at some point in the evening I'm sure.
On the plus side, I'm so ready to have some time for just me. So once we make it through this transition I'll be relieved, I won't worry about taking moms nights out, etc.
Someone tell me we'll both be fine, please!

Oh mama  I am sure all of us can relate to your feelings!
Of course you both are going to be fine and as my MIL kept on saying "Kids NEED a sane mother", so you do need to get out of the house. But man, I know it can be hard.
You will, however, establish a new routine. The one that does involve expressing, and leaving and new ways of feeding your little one.
I was WOHM (still am) when DD was little and starting from 3 months after her birth was expressing at work, DD had to learn to take a bottle and so on and so forth. It did work out. Not without snags and disappointments, but it did, we established a new routine.
You will be fine hon! :rub:
Good luck to you!

Everyone will be fine!
After staying home with my first 3 children, I was a nervous
wreck when I had to go back to work when my 4th was 3 months old.
However, it is fine.
Congrats on the baby AND going back to school! :)

I would try to skip the expressing if you can. I'm not sure how your milk flow is, but if you're sure to nurse him as much as possible before hand (pumping after he's nursed at home might help too) maybe you won't need to express while you're out. I have a little portable single pump if you want it. It's just sitting here doing nothing. I also have tons of storage bags and such. Just LMK.
They'll all be fine, I promise :o).
Another recommendation, talk to your instructor ahead of time, if you can. I find that emailing is a good start, and then introducing yourself before the first class. I would email ahead of time explaining that you may have to leave class or you may be called out on occasion. Let him/her know you'll be doing that as little as humanly possible and explain why you'd be leaving. Most instructors aren't going to fuss at all. If you explain ahead of time you won't have to worry when it does happen. You can leave, do your thing, and come back with the confidence that the instructor isn't glaring at you for the interruption. I always hated that feeling, like they weren't going to let me back in or something, lol. Just piece of mind to have explained before hand.
