I finished the GRE this morning (690V, 690Q--not as high as I'd like on the Q, but I'll keep it) so now all I have left is Wednesday--the day I meet with the faculty for my interview. I plan to come home Wednesday afternoon and submit the two applications (one for the specific program and one for general admission).

This really has been like eating the proverbial elephant. I won't even let myself think about what might happen if I don't get in--or almost worse--I get in, but I don't get an assistanceship to pay for it.

Think positive, Alaska. Think positive.

Nothing to do but just keep going now, right? Even if things don't go as you expect (or hope), you still gained something from this experience. Perhaps focusing on that for the next few days can make them seem a bit shorter.

Good luck!

Well I THOUGHT I was done, but I guess I'm just at the start of things, LOL. The interview went well, and I feel very positively about acceptance into the program. What I don't know yet is if I will be able to get a graduate assistantship. They're much less common among MA. Ed students--most go to doctoral candidates.

Dh is determined to have it all work out for me. Between the Christmas Turkey (posted that story to the main board) and things going well for me with the MA application, he is more determined than ever to find the job that will let me pay for the first semester of the program (after which we hope an assistantship will kick in) and put us in a position where we can leave a turkey (with Santa money) on someone else's doorstep next year.

One of the things that came out of the meeting yesterday was that the department would like to see me review Calculus I on my own over the Spring semester and start the program this summer with Calculus II and a Matrices class. They have some specific textbooks they recommend, so I'm going back sometime next week hopefully to look at their books and then dh will get it for me for Christmas.

I meet with the woman who could get me an assistantship on January 16th now, but at least there's nothing further for me to do in terms of the application.
