I'm just so over school. I just sent a letter to the editor of our school paper about the general policy to coddle and "baby" the young students who make up the majority of this school's population. I'm tired of my grade being based on "attendance" and "participation" in lecture courses. I'm sick of my test and assignment grades weighing less than attendance. It's absurd that you could fail a course due to being home with a sick child more than 2 times in a semester, even if you have an A on all assignments and tests. I hope they print it. I'd feel better if they did. I don't think that extending high school is doing our young people any favors. I think the real world is going to be a very rude awakening when the concept of "just show up and succeed" is the norm. Life doesn't work that way. Not only that, but it diminishes the value of MY hard work, sacrifice, and dedication. If I fail math because I missed 3 classes, but Joe Blow passes with a C even though he failed half his tests, well that just pisses me off.
Ok, vent over. Deep breath. From here on out this day will be GREAT!
