So, I had a 60pt assignment due yesterday for my nutrition class. I started it on Thursday and had it mostly done. Dh has bronchitis and my youngest is ill too so we had a cuddling day yesterday. I finally sat down to finish my assignment after dinner (7pm) when my friend (dd's bff's mom) called to tell me that only 15 people had showed up to their American Diabetes Association Father-Daughter dance that they had planned. She begged us to come so we did. We had a great time. We bid on the porcelain doll that was donated and won. Dd's bff wanted that doll so much but knew she couldn't win it (since she was the organizer) so dd will give it to her for Christmas ;)

In any case, we got home around 9:30 and I sat down to finish the assignment. I went to submit it at 11:15 pm but blackboard said it was missed. I couldn't upload it. I immediately emailed my instructor through blackboard and sent her a link to my website that I uploaded it to. I also emailed her directly and attached my assignment. I explained that my family has been sick and that it was still Friday.

At orientation she had said that blackboard had 8 am as the time due but that we shouldn't worry about it. Anything submitted after 8 am would show as "late" but she wouldn't consider it late. She said at some point it would switch to missed but that she didn't know what time that was. I will say that she has made it clear that she won't accept late (missed) assignments.

This just sucks. If I get a 0 for this assignment, there's no way I can get an A in the class. I need all A's to get into the nursing program. I am pissed at myself. I should have finished the assignment earlier yesterday. It pisses me off because I know that last week I submitted an assignment just before 10 pm and it wasn't missed.

I'm going to stress all weekend. Dh says not to worry about it. Whatever happens, happens. Of course part of me thinks that she'll just respond that it's ok (not missed) but I worry that she'll say I'm sorry but it's missed. I'm one of her best students so I hope that helps me.

Don't worry about it. I am positive that she will be receptive to it and, if it is technically late, she will accept it this time and let you know what the specific time is for the future. In my opinion, a late assignment is one that is handed in after the due date. You were still on the due date. Don't worry. Worry cannot change the outcome :)

I can't imagine that she won't accept it. It sounds like you covered your bases by emailing her. Also, after what she said at orientation, she really should be willing to accept anything before midnight on the due date.

A week later she emailed me this:

"received and accepted"

I ended up getting all 100 pts which is funny because our syllabus listed it as a 60 pt project. I'm happy though.
