for sociology I am supposed to interview a tatoo artist. i am supposed to ask them about the social stigmas of their job and about the meaning behind tatoos. ok, point blank, i do not want to cold call some tatoo shop people. lol i don't know any local places here, don't know anyone, etc. i HAVE been into tattoo shops before and i can find plenty of articles. my assignment is just to write a page of how my conversation with the tattoo artist changes my own feelings about the subject. should i just lie and pretend like i interviewed one? or should i email the prof and ask if i can just use online interviews? or should i just cold call... this is due tuesday and i will have at least one child with me every minute until then and my phone gets spotty a spotty connection. bleh.

I think you should actually do it. I think it'd be really interesting. But then again, I've got a degree in sociology and I totally get off on talking to and learning about different people. Sounds like something I'd do just for the fun of it.

That said, taking a child wouldn't sit well with me. But I would guess that most shop are open in the evenings...could your husband watch the kids tomorrow evening and then come home and write the paper? I would guess that it wouldn't take too long.

My husband isn't getting home until well after 10 tomorrow if that. If I was in a different city, in a different situation, I would be all about it too, but under my current circumstances, it is annoying.

maybe nic could hook you up with the place she works. would a phone interview do?

Yes, a phone interview would do. Which is what I am going to have to do as I am NEVER without child. LOL

I called a local place yesterday, they were really nice, said they would call back today... the assignment isn't due until tonight and is super short (one typed page) and I am going to start it... so hopefully! If not, I am just going to use a past experience to finish the paper and tell the prof the tattoo people flaked on me.

Well, I never did a get an interview. Sigh. I called this place and they were so nice, got my name and number and we will give you a call back tomorrow, call us if you don't hear from us. Then I called them the next day. Oh, we'll call you back in a few minutes. Started on my paper since the interview was only part of it. Got my paper pretty much done, called back, oh we'll call in 5 minutes. Finally, I chose some careful words to include it in my paper but not lie, and sent my paper because it was getting late and thought, well I will still do the interview but they Never called! WTF? Why did they keep telling me they would call??? Why not just say, nope, we don't have time. Anyhow at that point it was late at night on my due date. I did talk to the tattoo artist briefly on the phone and used that part in my paper as well as went and looked up additional sources and used a past experience talking to tattoo artists.

But that is all an aside. That little paper was worth 5 points. I have an exam worth 100 points today out of 450 for the class. UGH! I HATE hugely weighted exams for a course. I won't have time to take the exam until dh gets home at 8:30 tonight and that is really pushing it. I wanted to take it last night, but I had two other quizzes to take. Bleh.
