I (shamefully) love wasting hours on the realty sites.
my daily search is;
1 bedroom
1+ acre
less than 100,000

I stumbled on this today....

It's an amish homestead...no electricty, no bathroom. :)

For fun, here's the stove. wow.

Spain and Italy totally trumps my Harmony Minnesota.

I love seeing (snooping) what the amish will consider as acceptable and not. Like the tupperware on the counter. Or not using a tractor, but seeing a horse pull a generator out to a field. :p I love it.

and they sure can build a barn...this one looks rough around the edges so I wonder what the deal is. That's out of character, usually the community will step in if there's illness or set-back. Maybe americans lived in it. not sure.

See, speculating is half the fun.

Sure, it's not a straight link tho...

SEMAR | Search for homes for sale and real estate | Southeast Minnesota Association of REALTORS | Find a REALTOR in SE Minnesota | Rochester MN real estate (http://www.semnrealtors.com)

click property search on the left side bar

enter this mls number: 4002065

lmk if it doesn't work and I'll try something else. :)

My mom grew up on a farm whose house had a wood burning stove/oven like that to cook on and heat the house, no plumbing, no electricity.

From her childhood stories....I prefer modern day utilities.

She had to hike in the snow to go to the outhouse, use chamber pots. They were always afraid the house would burn down from the overheating stove pipes and read by kerosene lamps at night. They also had to cart in buckets of water from the water pump.

The best part of living that way, mom says, was stoking the oven with wood to get fine gradations of heat while baking cakes and bread.

LOL.
