I posted pics from July 27 on my blog: The Birth of a Homestead (http://www.vermonthomestead.blogspot.com)
Rain. Rain rain rain rain RAIN. It's been bad. Almost constant rain, flood watches everywhere, standing water in the garden.
But, I just went outside. The corn is multicolored, LOL, but it is tasseling! The jalapenos are (slowly) ripening. Even my glaciers that I thought were dying - well one is slowly starting to ripen! (And I pulled out one plant...sigh.) The Sun Golds are starting their "you are going to eat cherry tomatoes until your stomach bursts" mode (we've had a handful a day for a couple weeks, but this is where things really start to take off). We have baby pumpkins growing, and the huge Howdens are flowering in the weeds behind the chicken fencing. The beans (Jacob's Cattle and Black Turtle) are doing *awesome.* Oh and the zucchini and winter squashes, which I planted a bit on the late side, are totally nonplussed by the wetness. Pickling cukes are flowering and starting to grow. (All this I planted late, like June 10 or 15?)
Anyway pics are there and here: Flickr: bodhimama's Photostream (http://www.flickr.com/photos/laurenware)
Calendula and nasturtiums are doing really well in the front flower bed. I'm deadheading the calendula and putting it straight into olive oil to eventually make into salve.
