It seems like I see more and more people are mentioning their chickens. Some I'm familiar with, others I had no idea. Want to list what you have? Or you could just let us know you have some, if you have too long of a list that you don't want to do it individually. We keep saying we'd love to have a photo album w/each of the animals, but never get around to doing it.

I just did this on the other thread but here goes.
First flock (what's left of em):
5 Rhode Island Reds
1 Red Star
5 Buff Orpingtons
3 Speckled Sussex
3 Ameracaunas
17 total
Second flock (still chicks):
8 Partridge Rocks
7 Barred Rocks
7 Ameracaunas
22 total
total layers: 22+17=39
Plus about 23 CornishxRocks, out of 50 to start (41 made it to butchering age).

Just brought home our 8 silver laced wyandottes (had 9, but one died on the trip home :( ) and one duck of unknown origin who is obsessed with sitting on the chicken's eggs.

We have 26 or so, not exactly sure. They are the kids.
They have cornish, sex links, barred rocks, delawares, buffs orpingtons, araucana, polish, jersey giants, production reds, california whites, one or two others as well, lol.

I'm not familiar with the California whites. What are they like?
We have 1 Old English Game Bantam, 1 Rhode Island Red Bantam/Sebright mix, 1 Japanese Bantam/something else mix, 1 Silver Laced Wyandotte Bantam, 1 Easter Egger, and 1 Appenzeller Spitzhauben.

They lay very, very well. Much lighter birds so they require less feed, but they can fly up over w/o a tall fence unless yours are strictly free range then it wouldn't be a concern. Definitely not cross use, LOL. They are skinny :)

One of our very best most consistent layers is a leghorn and I'd describe her exactly the same.

I only have four right now.
I am debating if I want to find them homes.

They are cute. Ours is very tame. She was our first chicken. Dh bought her for Louisa's 2nd birthday, and she used to live in the house most of the time. Now that we've moved she lives outside with the other hens, but she still lets the kids pick her up. Morganna especially loves to carry her around!
