My old boss called, asked if I was ready to come back to work yet....since it's been 8 years. lol.

This job could make that 85 acres for sale north of here a real prospect instead of a pie in the sky. *sigh*

I'm so comfy where I'm at in my life tho.

I've been waffling for days since he called. I went back to work (somewhere else) last winter. It was....ugh. Just not the right place or time. That experience has me flinching, even tho the jobs are worlds apart in pay and conditions.

waffle waffle. back and forth. leggo-my-eggo.

Ohhhh! Dish! It sounds lovely!!!

Then again, I'd be thrilled with two acres so who am I to advise? ;-)

What's the job? Did you like it? Does it fit with your current lifestyle? Could you suck it up long enough to get the land?

These are all the things I think of because I haven't worked in 9 years now. My day to day life is pretty cushy but if the right thing came along and could make some dreams come true I'd be waffling too.

Add me to the "give more information" group! More land would be lovely. But, if you're working so much you can't enjoy it. . that's not so great, esp since more land often means more work.

Ooh - that's a hard one. Would you return to work just to help purchase the land or does the job fill a more personal need for you?
I can't even fathom 85 acres - wow!!
Good luck with your decision.

Yep that's where I'm at - trying to balance working FT and all the work involved in trying to make 25 acres (or at least 10 of it) productive. It's quite the frustrating balancing act. Yet, without the job I couldn't have the expansion, so it's got to work somehow.

Speaking of which, back to work for me! :p

Well, I'm thinking on that one. :)

like heather, I actually have it fairly cush right now. I mean, I'm busy-busy but really, I can do whatever, whenever because I'm not on anyone's clock.

conversely, it might be fun to try this on. It's actually a day job, m-f and I have never had one of those kind of jobs. I've always been on a rotation....I was a 911 dispatcher in my previous life.

This job is the department's front window to the public. BUT, the chief said there may be a "cascade" affect because several existing dispatchers want the job...but he didn't elaborate about whether or not he wants me to move to dispatch or get this job specifically.

Dispatching is more money. Which is great. But it took me 8 years to thin my skin again...I don't know if I want to go there again. I don't care what anyone says, dispatchers are certifiable.....nuts. Or at least end up that way.

The land, half is in crp and the other half is rented....plus there's a tiny house and 3 out-buildings. I'd probably try to rent the works just until I got a plan in place...and my paycheck would cover the rest of the pymnt.

way too much? lol.

oh, and the medical insurance keeps jumping in my lap. 170.00 for the whole family. I can't even imagine. I'm paying 700.00 right now for crap. :vent:

Dh and I have been doing pros and cons since last night. So, I'm kind of all over the place right now.

Gusty would need daycare for 2-3 days a week. NO!! she said. :o

right now, at this moment, I'm leaning towards the job.

Well, financially it sounds good. Insurance payments always surprise me because we get it free and have for years.

For our family, my "job" is to be a mom. That's it. It was always the plan but I want more so I started by business. I think Katie you are similar in the crafting outlet aspect. Daycare would be tough for me just because of the costs around here.

I would seriously be tempted though if we were talking land in Maine...

I know, for years we had great insurance. Then when we decided to have me stay home, we had to buy our own. I almost tipped over. We pay 700.00/month and nothing is covered for the first 10,000 dollars. I mean seriously. That's a house payment right there. so immediately, without wages, it'd be a 500.00+ raise a month. lol.

I love my craft business, but I'm a miserable family and business owner time manager. Great at one or the other, not together kwim? I stink at orchestrating my own structure. sad but true. But of course sahms are at everyone's mercy too, it's hard not to be interrupted. I'm hungry, wipe my butt, can I get a ride to.... :)

But it is another variable. I'm not at all ready to give up my crafting.

I just need another me. :)

Wow! A lot to think about. Big decisions rarely come easy.
