I am having the hardest time finding a hotel whose capacity we do not exceed. Found one that was awesome - two queens AND a sleeper sofa - and - pbbt. Only smoking rooms left.
Vacation rentals are out because we're only going to be there two nights (and most are booked).
Two rooms would be absurdly expensive and Jack sleeps smack dab in the middle of us, rolling around constantly - it would be a challenge to get him to sleep between anyone besides DH and myself (if we had to split up in rooms).
Gah. Any ideas?

Have you called any of the vacation places or just looked on line to check their vacancy? You could luck out with one only being half rented. We learned that some of them will use the half rental for maintenance and such. You could talk them out of it.
State parks...some have cabins. Of course those are hugely in demand but you just never know. they may be a bit rustic tho.

Cheaper hotel (like $60 a night), 2 rooms next to each other, and a baby monitor so you can hear the kids in the other room. I don't know, and I'm not really a large family, but I think that's what I would do.
they found something :) sandi and I have been texting a bit, but so far havent been able to hook up -- will let her give more details!

Heather - I'm SO sorry we missed you guys.
Hemingway's was so nice - and then, food poisoning! :wah: I was SOOOOOO sick on Jack's birthday. Right after we left the restaurant I started feeling not-so-great. We went straight back to the hotel - never even got his birthday cake - and I spent the rest of the time in bed. :(
And, I fried on the beach the same day - I was even thinking the GI stuff might have been related. Apparently my rosacea meds make me more sun-sensitive. Blaaaaaah.
So, I'm sorry we missed out on our drink or coffee, but we'll have to figure out a way to do it in the future!
As an update to my quandary - we found a Holiday Inn that was *incredible* - just gorgeous. Brand new hotel (or newly renovated). They upgraded us to a king executive suite and it had a king bed, a queen sleeper sofa, and a twin rollaway bed with plenty of room in between. We brought a ready bed (air mattress thing) and Jae slept on that, on the chair and ottoman. But, she was a happy camper.
I found I just had to call enough hotels to find one that would work. They all seem to have so many different room types.
In B'ham, we had our regular holiday inn express and that had two queens, but we did okay with another rollaway added in.
