I currently have no chickens. I have a henhouse and could get set up in a couple of weeks or less. Keep in mind, it won't be winter here until November. They would start laying in the Spring I guess.

I missed local season here because I knew I was going to be on vacation for a month out of the summer, and didn't feel like arranging care for them.

McMurray hatchery has limited quantities. I've never had chickens mailed to me before.

What do you think?

I ordered from Privett and like them: Privett Hatchery - Chickens, Ducks, Geese, Guineas, Bantams, Chicks, Turkeys, Poultry, Birds, Fowl (http://www.privetthatchery.com). I'd go for it; we've had great success with having chicks mailed (3x now). Privett's chicks were very healthy and strong and seemed higher quality than the ones we got from McMurray. I've also heard that this late in the season, McMurray outsources to different places and you might not get as solid quality. Our first batch, 2 years ago, we received in early July and they did great.
