I had told some of you homesteaders about our urban beekeeping. There are a few pictures on my blog here (http://boobiejuice.blogspot.com/2008/07/bees-knees.html).
I thought some of you who are not homesteaders might be interested in what we're doing in the city.
We have used 1 vacant lot on our block and turned it into a community garden. A bit of the produce is stolen, honestly, but our church's daycare children get a chance to care for it, watch it grow and taste some of it. Our neighborhood children and the church's children get the same experience. We have garden work days once a month and there is always something to do.
We're doing lots of other cool stuff (I can brag on this, b/c I am not one of the organizers or great workers)...ask questions if you'd like.
