I just wanted to fill you in on Barefoot Books. Barefoot Books are published by a small independent children's book publisher based in Cambridge, MA, begun by two working mothers 15 years ago. Barefoot Books brings authors and illustrators together to produce high quality children's literature which feature rich language and beautiful art that engage a child's imagination. Multicultural stories introduce children to cultures around the world, create a sense of global community, and convey universal messages.

Finding Barefoot Books has been fantastic for my family. My two-year-old daughter LOVES these books (and I’ve seen plenty of older kids mesmerized by them, too!). A few examples: Animal Boogie is always a favorite and comes with a CD of fantastic music for your little one to jive to. Elephant Dance is an Indian grandfather’s telling of life in India accompanied by beautiful illustrations. And, Story Tree is an anthology of stories from around the world with gorgeous illustrations. It also comes with a CD of the stories so your little one can listen to them in the car and flip the pages of the book. Barefoot Books help you children learn respect for the planet, introduce them to other cultures, expose t hem to fine art, and help teach tolerance.

The other reason I love Barefoot is that they have provided me with a fantastic, flexible job. As a stallholder, I can work anywhere in the country and feel really good about the product I am selling. I am NOT a natural salesperson and am only doing this because I believe in these books and want as many kids to read them as possible. I feel like I am just spreading good news!

Have fun browsing the website and let me know if you have any questions about particular books, holding a fundraiser, or starting the journey of a stallholder yourself. I look forward to hearing from you. Happy reading, mamas!
