:help: Elana is driving me NUTS. She is shrieking at the top of her lungs when she's angry or wants something. I can't take it. I'm ready to drop kick her. What really gets me going is when she and Ava are fighting and they are BOTH shrieking. That high-pitched, nailsonchalkboard, ear-piercing girly screech.

Being stretched so far beyond my limits physically, I'm an emotional wreck right now and my coping skills are pretty much nonexistant. Somewhere I need to find the reserves to deal with this in a compassionate, gentle way...but part of ME wants to throw a d@mn hissy fit too! :vent:

I need more meds, I'm certain of it. :shake:

When my dd is doing that (shes 3 going on 4) I just take her to her room and tell her if she wants to scream or whatever the behavior is, she can do it in her room. It last about a minute or 2 and shes done. She now understands that throwing the hissy fit from h@ll is not gonna get what she wants.

But I know exactly how you feel. There were days when dh couldn't get home fast enough. Its hard sometimes, especially when your at the end of your rope.

Good luck mama, I hope you find something that works for you.

I can sympathize, and I'm only talking about my niece. LOL She just turned 2, and Holy Cow! it drives me crazy to be around her. She is very verbal/oral, and knows exactly what she wants. It's funny, though, she only does it when her Mom, or Grandma are around. When she's hanging out with me she doesn't. LOL

Mine all did that, too. I've got one more girl to go through, now. :)

 Amy. Evy does this too and the sheer volume of it, especially combined with Juliette's loudness (it's usually those two fighting over something) can be really grating on my nerves. She talks a lot, has a great vocabulary and is generally pretty capable of telling me what she wants, etc. but when she's upset, it all goes out the window and she just screams. I'll try and redirect, or hold her and talk to her in a comforting voice to get her to calm down, but there have been times she will just scream and won't let me hold her. I wish I had some advice for you. I'm so sorry you are having such a rough time lately. I wish I could come and help you out. When all else fails, I will step out of the room and do some deep breathing and tell myself this too shall pass.

My 2yo doesn't shriek but he yells, "MOOOOOOOOMMMMMM" over nad over. I have to stop andlook at him and just say, "you may not yell at me". He is pretty sensitive, already, to "the look". If he doesn't stop then I know something is really wrong.

When it is just "gimme what I want", yeah, the drop kick sounds good at that point ;).

awww... I'm sorry. Patrick was a shrieker. We couldn't go to restaurants or anyplace nice for a few years. But I promise, they grow out of it. He's only loud once in a while, now. :)

And then she falls asleep, and I fall in love with her all over again.

This wee thing is a Taurus and MAN is she stubborn at times! She gets like Evi too, won't let me hold her or redirect (sometimes, it I'm lucky) and of course I do the "use your girl voice" or "no yelling at mommy" reminders. I DON'T give in until she either tells me what she wants in a relatively normal voice along with her manners (which she uses nicely MOST of the time) or settles down in general. Sometimes ignoring the behavior helps, if I don't engage it can make things worse temporarily but eventually she gets the message. ;)

Tracey - I started giving E "the look" waaaay back when but then she started giving it back to me I had to stop for the laughing. :p

It always seems that when I'm just DONE with a certain phase, the girls seem to snap out of it and we're on to the next Grand Adventure in Parenting.

Thanks for your comments...it seems particularly hard when I've worked all day, she finally gets home with Daddy and I want some fun cuddly time and she's just not having it (whatever IT happens to be, doesn't seem to matter). But today is another day!

oh man.. sounds like my Leila. And she and Josh are about ready to drive me insane. Know why I finally decided to do public school? I needed my kids to get a break from eachother! LOL

Oh yeah, the holding back of laughter causes me not to be able to say or do a lot with a couple of my children. I try to say "canteloupes and watermelon", in my mind, so I won't laugh when I am being stern. I read that on a parenting site once!!

Luna is a screetchy shreiker at times, too. I can usually just deal and try to diffuse the situation, but when I have PMS it can push me to the brink, for sure. :help:
